Talking intro and rock slider "????"

hi every one... im new to the forum and to the jeep community, but i've been a jeeper at heart for a long time... in a couple of weeks im getting my very own 98 wrangler any recomendations on what trany to get? im very good with the 5 speed on or off-road but for off-roading? what do you recommend??? or is it a matter of personal preference ???? im thinking the standard 5 speed trany for me...ok the main question im wondering if body mounted rock-sliders can bend or damage the tub??? so frame or body mounted??

thanks in advanced....

i will post pics ASA I get my jeep....

Welcome to the forum.

Body mounted sliders (good ones/not cheap crap)are indeed stronger than the ones that bolt to the frame.

As for the tranny....depends on your type of offroading // preference.

Rock...auto works better for most.

mud...manual works better for most.

But in the end it is YOUR preference.

X2 on what distortedtj said. a good set of sliders will actually save your tub. I've used mine as pivot points on rocks on the trail. I dented the sliders a bit but better them than the tub. Whatever sliders you get, get some skateboard grip tape, cut into 2" strips and put them on the steps.
