IPhone mount ideas

Happy Sunday forum members,

I'm trying to figure out a good mounting idea for my iPhone 5 in my Wrangler. There's a slot under my Sony head unit that fits it, but it hides it from sight. I'd love to mount it on my left side, near (or in) the leftmost AC vent. I want a sturdy mount that will grip it tightly (don't want it falling out an open window or door.) I'll run a 10' lightning cable from the head unit behind the dash to provide charging and tunes. A minor mod, but a necessary one - anyone tackled this before?

I have this thing that has a suction cup on one end and has a phone mount on the other and it holds my phone pretty tight. I put it on the windshield on the left side right above the a/c vent and works perfectly. There should be a ton of products like this on amazon or ebay.

Heres an example:

Amazon.com: car phone holder

Quadratec has a very sturdy metal bracket for like $16 that mounts just to the right of the radio and angles the phone back toward the driver. I have this one with my iPhone 4 installed with the ProClip holder mounted to it because this mount allows me to simply slide the phone in and out without connecting and disconnecting the cable each time.

Been in place for a few months now and works well on the street and on the trail. Allows me to use the GPS in the phone as well as a ready source of music (pandora) for the Kenwood system.

Thanks - I found one on Amazon with a suction cup that should work. Was just wondering if there was something special made just for the Jeep.

I will show you what I did: otter box case and belt clip. Velcro tape on the back of the belt clip. I also have another clip I modified to bolt to my A pillar and shoot video like a Gopro.

I did it like this as well. Just used velcro. Holds it secure.

I took my otter box holster and clipped it to the sun visor. Very sturdy eye level. But no cable hook up. That's what the iPod is for.

I use the Bracketron TJ bracket and their standard grip mount.

Do an internet search for SirGCal on the internet. He has plans on his site to make a bracket that mounts to the upper left of the A/C vent. He uses it for a GPS, but the basic design would work for a phone holder.

The bracketron setup that I have is perfect though. In 5th gear with my hand on the shifter, I can touch the phone.

I have one of those bricks too. Have you figured a way to mount it?

Forget wasting money on a mount. Mine rides in the cup holder at all times.

I don't have a Note 2 but I found this mount on Amazon that uses the CD slot to hold it in place. Fully adjustable and will fit the Note 2 as well. Seems like the best use for a CD slot I've seen in quite a while.

I found one that works pretty well. I'll get the details tomorrow morning (I'm at work now), but IIRC it was less than $10. Samsung has one that looks pretty decent for the Note 2, but it's $30 from T-Mobile.

I started with a magnetic phone mount from harbour freight. I loved it. I now have a phablet and I switched to plastic snap pad strips kind of like Velcro but a lot stronger from meijer. I have mine mounted on the top corner of my instruments cluster. It kind of blocked by my steering wheel but I only use it as a music player so no need to realy see it too well.

I'm actually waiting for geck skin to hit the market. No joke a index card size piece and hold like 300 lbs on a sheet of vertical glass and come off easily with no residue. I wanna say it was developed in mass university and is now owned by Darpa. It says it might be available for civilians because it's made with common materials. That from my memory from the Darpa website and news clips on geck skin. I will use it for everything.

Look into RAM mounts. They have fixed and suction mounts. I go crawling with mine suctioned to the windshield, so I can shoot video. It works incredibly well. I am going order another for my iPad for GPS use when I overland.

I recently got a new phone that wouldnt fit in my old holder so I just got one of these. Its acually pretty nice and for the cost I dont think you could do much better if you are ok with a windsheild mount holder.

I mounted a Walgreens universal phone mount on the emergency brake lever using Velcro and 3 cable ties. Very sturdy and permits the use of the USB cable. Does not interfere with the brake lever operation.

My radio has blue tooth so I can just leave it safely in my pocket.

Do you have a link to this?

Edit...nevermind I found it. I like the the RAM mounts as well. Haven't seen one in person but they seem pretty sturdy.
