Is it just me?

Every single time I go to fill the gas tank (so you know at least 3 times a day) when it gets full, every single time without fail the gas comes flying back out at me. The only thing I can do to keep gas from overflowing out of my TJ is to barely hold the handle down so gas trickles out at snails pace into my tank. That or I could only fill it halfway but I don't want to do that. During these colder months, waiting to fill my tank gets super annoying. Does this happen to anybody else? Is there anything I can do? Change some angle or something? I'm sick of getting gas all over my hands!

This happens to my 06 TJ as well. Not sure exactly what the cause is. I just do my best to keep the gas coming out slow once I know I'm close to full

Here's a link to another thread that details a fix for this. 2005-2006 TJ LJ - Fix for gas overflow issue

It is a pretty common issue and there are plenty other threads on it with how to fix it if you search around. This was simply the first one I came across.

Good luck with the fix.

Sounds minor compared to trying to fill my 77 CJ-5.

When I had my liberty it did this. After owning it for about 6 months I got a recall paper in the mail. It was some kind of position sensor or something like that. They also replaced the tank and something else. Never had the problem again. The paper that they sent me said it affected some wrangler models too. Might wanna look into that

Same problem here with the 05 LJ.....the thread posted uses a GM hose replacement. Will have to wait for the foot of snow and ice to melt before undertaking such an outdoor fix. :-)
