Is this a decent deal?

2002 Jeep Wrangler sport

It looks like it is in good condition though it could have frame rot? Curious about what you guys think about the price compared to the miles. What caught my eye is that it has no rust which is kinda rare in PA.

It would go for close to that here in Texas as long as it truly has no rest.

The body looks flawless as far as rust goes, i sent him an email asking for undercarriage pics to see if theirs any frame rot, so we'll see.

I would also ask the owner where the Jeep has spent most of it's life. No rust, I would assume down south somewhere.

That is a good point. It's not uncomman for alot of retired people living in Florida or the Carolinas to move back here with their kids when they can't take care of themselves anymore. Could be grandpa's jeep.

I imagine rust isn't nearly as bad in Texas as it is here?

Yeah that's a good deal. But of course, I would try and negotiate a bit. Offer him 10k... See what he does. Or she.

That's not a bad idea. It's been up for only about 2 weeks so i'm not sure how desperate the guy is to sell.

He sent me a few pictures of the undercarriage, is this a significant amount of rust or just minor on a wrangler?

I cant see the pics, hmmmm. I just bought a 2002 for about $9500 but it has 120,000 miles, the one your looking t has about half that. Looks awesome from what I can tell. Wish I could see those pics. Does it have the Dana 44 rear? Mine does, but I dont think the seller even knew that.

It sure doesn't look like a frame that has spent its entire life up north. You should get him to send a pic of the rear pumpkin and see if its a dana 44. I think the frame looks above average from some of the ones ive seen when I was in the market. I saw much worse than that and I am down south.

It is an apex edition so i'm pretty sure it's just an X. I think the sport badge on the side was simply added, so no dana 44.

When I was searching for my Jeep a few weeks ago I was adamant about finding a Dana 44 rear, so it limited my options. If I had come across this one though I may have reconsidered that. I think this is in great shape and very low miles. It looks practically new. those spots on the frame look like mere surface blemishes and are super simple to cover. I'd be all over this but I definitely would offer a little less. Like, I payed a little over $9,000 before tax and all that for my '02. But this one is in better shape and half the miles.

It was actually 43 today, so not too bad.

Come to Oklahoma. 2 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and negative who knows wind chill with our constant 30 mph wind. Then over 100 for 3 months and regularly over 110. Two seasons here a** hot and cold.

I'm in Texas and that's almost identical to the one I bought last May except mine doesn't have leather and mine had about 6k less miles. That one has slightly nicer wheels. I got mine for $9000. It would be a little high for me, but he may have padded the price a little for negotiations.

If it has that much rust on the outside it is eaten up on the inside of the frame. The bottom frame at the T case support is bubbling, that is bad. No deal. Pass.

Tub is also caved at mount pad, looks like a rough life. Pass.

Yep, that has spent plenty of time somewhere in the north. My 98 that has always been in Texas has basically no rust on it except for the axles, which surface rust very quickly. I would really inspect the frame closely, and get a much lower price or start looking in the south.

Thanks for the advice. What would you guys consider a good price for this jeep then? So many in the area have ALOT more rust on them, so the prices seem to dramatically rise for the ones with no rust.
