I have the stock steering shaft in the 06 sport...and about 3 inches above the steering box there is a joint where theres a steep angle in the steering shaft before it continues up in a straight line to the firewall...but the angle on that joint in the lower shaft is between 30* and 40*...and my dad keeps telling me that he thinks there is way too much pressure on that joint from 35x12.5 inch tires and wheel spacers...has anyone ever had any problems with busting their steering shafts? or does the steering box take care of all the torque that would otherwise be going onto that small joint on the shaft...if anyone needs me to post a picture of what joint im talking about just let me know. its eas to see right above the steering box
I have looked at it before and I am pretty sure the steering box should be taking all the pressure. I havent really heard of the steering box or anything above it having issues from larger tires, so I wouldnt worry.
