it's been done a countless times! lets do it once more!

Hey guys, as some of you may know I recently moved to Limestone Tennessee (ive seen some of you guys driving around too!) and i'll be attending ETSU this year. ive been thinking about doing the (not so original) bed liner mod for quite a while now but do to me moving so much (from ct to va, to peru back to va and now here) I haven't had the chance; but now that we've settled down I figured id do it before college starts... in 2 weeks yikes! so I started basically with removing surface rust from the drivers side floor pan, treating it and patching the half dime sized rust hole on it with fiberglass. DONE. I then decided I was tires of having to do rust treatment cause of the carpets always keeping the moisture in between so I said to heck with the carpets.

Removing the rear seats as we all know only takes 2 minutes. so that was done. then I moved to the passenger seat this was a bit tricky as the bolts were TIGHT. I managed to get 3 out of the 4 out until the last one snapped. at the moment im considering just leaving it as such (with three bolts) renting/borrowing, or if someone wants to help me out im all ears, and welding a washer to the snapped bolt and welding a nut to the washer and soak it in pb blaster for the next couple of days.
I went on to removing the center console and carpet and that took about 1 hour at most (this is with removing the screws holding the AMP down to the tub that were under the rear seats, grinding the area down and treating the metal so no more rust builds up) now im soaking the rear seat bracket bolts in pb blaster and waiting a day at least as ive learned my lesson, scuffing the entire tub down and vacuuming it, you would not BELIEVE how much crap there was under those carpets. I placed my order for monstaliner today. One gallon kitplus a quart of chassie saver and shipping for free 145 bucks! definitely a MUCH better choice than 100 bucks for an inferior product such as herculiner.i decided to spend the extra 50 bucks and get a free can of chassie saver on top of it all, and do it right with a product that's been PROVEN to work and not fade away.
more updates to come as I move onwards with it.

also again, if ANYBODY has any suggestions as to what to do with that bolt that's all messed up. PLEASE let me know asap

Spray the hell out of it with PB if you haven't already. Check and see if you can get to the bolt from underneath. You may be able to get a pair of vice grips on it. Work it back and forth slowly until it breaks free.

that's what ive been doing just that, soaking it in literally a pool of PB every 4 hours or so I go back to the garage to refill the pool lol. I tried to work it back and forth with the passenger on but I got so antsy that it snapped (oops) I might just "rent" an arc welder and weld a washer and nut to it and work my way with it. but I def learned my lesson with the first bolt. ive been soaking EVERY bolt in pb lol

UPDATE!! sorry about the delay guys, I got a pretty bad cold and on top of that I got an mmr and meningitis shot for college so BRING ON THE FEVER! anyways, removed EVERYTHING from the jeep, sanded all rust and treated everything else, even the surface rust on seat frames. as far as snapped bolts go im only 3 in!!! im not sure how bad that is buuuuuut it's one per seat hahaha. the last one was on the driver's seat, first bolt, I kind mad and beat the crap out of every other bolt on the seat with a rubber hammer and a hole punch, I didn't have an impact gun... worked like a charm, WORD OF ADVICE!!! forget pb blaster just take your anger out on your bolts! In comparison, the pb blasted bolts came out with a bit of work, meaning, working back and forth. bolts pb blasted and banged like crazy, once it breaks free it will unscrew like butter.
anyways, tomorrow im washing the entire tub with dawn and scruff pads, drying, fiberglassing, welding snapped bolts out, hopefully that'll go well. dry scuffing and MEKing the tub... and if im lucky doing the first and second coat of monstaliner

When you clean it, use a red scotch brite and ajax. Nothing wrong with dawn, it's a good degreaser, but ajax is abrasive and will help with adhesion of the bed liner.

I just went through similar crap with seat bolts. I only busted one bolt, but ended up drilling it and using something similar to the 'Grab-it" bits to back it out.
After I cleaned the tub, I used a primer that I added ceramic insulation and primed it before bedlining (I used U-Pol Raptor spray - so easy!).
Good luck with it!

thanks! that ceramic insulated primer sounds awesome! I got to cleaning and scuffing, and figured id go to bed and wait till 5 am tomorrow to start fiberglassing and welding and what not since the monstaliner only has a short pot life. I got my arc welder (70 amp) should be all I need, washers and nuts. so early tomorrow i'll try unbolting them out again, hopefully the heat from the welding process will have some loosening effect, and the one that snapped too in (meaning theyre not even flush with the surface) hopefully i'll be able to reach them from the bottom and weld a nut to the piece sticking out and screw it out (if that makes sense)

everything got scuffed today and chassis savered..... yea lets go with that. lol. I held off on the monstaliner till tomorrow cause im getting the bolts removed at around 230-330. hopefully it should only take an hour tops (i'm removing the driver's seat as soon as I get there too cut down on time (we college kids tend to be broke). anyways. I applied chassis saver at around 730 so I should be within the 24 window to apply without needing to sand and re-prep....right?
