Its Tax Return Time!!!

Hello Wrangler Forum,

I have been absent from the forum for a while now, darn real life. But now that we are entering that time of year when some of us find a little extra money to play with, I have a couple of questions for the forum.

1st off, If I was interested in doing a budget boost on my wrangler and moving up to 265/75/16 duratrac tires, what are my best option's for 16 inch rims? Don't want to break the bank but I don't want something that looks like a Walmart hubcap either.

To give a little bit of back ground, The wife and I tend to be cruisers and explorers and not rock crawlers or mud bunnies. To sum that up, I may play in some mud but nothing that I think has the chance to strand us in the woods and PO the wife!!!

I have been told that there are some stock 16 inch wheels that can be painted and will fill the bill, but the person that told me this could not remember which make and model would fit.

Thoughts and suggestions, just trying to see whats out there for options that are trusted and wont break the bank....This may all be a pipe dream and could turn out to be the year for a soft top instead!

Thank for any help

Wildkarde

First, welcome back!

Second, try to find someone selling a set of rubi wheels they took off of theirs, probably you're cheapest option for 16" wheels and they look good.

After that just be prepared to spend quite a bit more for 16" tires compared to 15's

Yeah I was thinking just find some black 15" steel wheels. That would probably be cheaper for wheels and tires than the 16" tires alone.. Or close to it..

Price

I hear you on the price difference between 15's and 16's, but it appears that there are many more options for 16" 265/75/16 then there are for 32/11.5/15.

I have been very happy with my current 235/75/15 duratrac's on my TJ and i have 265/75/16 duratracs on my Silverado and would like to stay with them, but from what i can see they are not offered in a 32 for 15s.

Although I may be totally rethinking my plans for the TJ, My mother recently passed away and I am going to be buying her 08 jeep compass from the estate, only 16k on it and payoff is 7 grand. So long story short, my wife will drive that and I will go back to my Silverado for my DD. This will allow me to keep the miles down on the TJ, and avoid salt in the winter. It will also open up the options for what I can do to the TJ now that it will not be my DD......So many options
