Jack Stands / jack

For the garage.

Want to stock the garage. This spring I'll be putting on a lift kit, sye, and cv kit. It's easy enough to figure that 36" tires will do with 19" of lift, but do I need more. I haven't looked at the jack-stand placement for replacing springs. Seems it would be easier if you could lift the jeep so the springs weren't compressed.

Recommendations on type or brand to research would be helpful. Thanks

I guess garages are bigger in Texas as well? LOL
36" tires and 19" of lift? I think you need a house jack before you push the rig through the roof.

I run 31's with 2-12" of lift and a Garvin roof rack with 1/4" to clear the garage door opening and glad I have a roll-up door at that.

Sorry,
Not putting 19" of lift , I meant a jack would need to raise to 19" to clear the tires. I don't want to buy a jack and stands that aren't adequate, and don't want to overkill them too much.

I'm actually going with 33's right now, just want equipment that will handle 35's or 36's if I choose to do so down the road. I'm putting on a RE 4.5" and 33's, so I'm assuming about 10" gain in height.

Don't jack it up from the frame where you would need that 19" to lift the tires up, jack it from the axles and then support it from the frame with 6 ton jack stands. That 6 ton size isn't needed for its weight capacity, you need that size to have enough height as 3 ton stands aren't tall enough.

And for 35" tires, though it's hard for some to believe this, the OE jack is tall enough to change them on the street and most trail conditions. Afterall, 35" tires only raise the axle 2.5" taller than stock. It's certainly faster and safer than trying to use a highly unstable HiLift jack.

I take it that supporting it by the frame allows the springs to sit uncompressed so removal/installation is easier? I also plan on using some rr ties behind the jackstands as a safety backup. Better idea would be welcome.

Yes, supporting it via the frame with 6 ton jackstands allows the axles to droop down fully once the wheels have been removed. No need for the RR ties, at least in my personal opinion, 6 ton jackstands have a wide base and are very stable.
