jeep 1 utility pole 0

On way yesterday driving through a whiteout fields on both sides snow about a foot deep across road, four cars coming at me first one in middle of road so tried to get over a bit. Snow pulled me into ditch about a four foot drop into a utility pole, hit it straight on. top of pole snapped clean off parts were falling all around me, got out and inspected the jeep, not a mark on it!
Could have drove off but called 911 and waited. Officer came out and wrote a report. He asked me if I needed a tow and I said heck no I can drive out of this! It was an old rotten pole otherwise don't think I would have snapped it even. Gotta love a jeep, tough as nails! Glad for the steel bumper too!

Glad to read no one was hurt...including your Jeep. Your response to the officers question is Hilarious. Would have loved to seen the look on their face :-)

Same kind of thing happened to my brother a few years ago. The pole was an old POS wooden one and the city tried to make him pay $3000 for a new metal one! Hope they dont try that with you!

Just glad to hear that the pole pieces at the top didn't come crashing down through your roof. So many people do NOT know how to drive in the snow or have poor equipment or both. Unfortunately for those of us who are cautious in the snow and Ice, we end up taking the slack for those who don't. Like they guy you mentioned driving down the middle of the road. He probably thinks he's a good driver, not realizing how many accidents he caused on the way home. Again just glad your OK and so is the jeep. R.I.P. poor power pole.

What a jackass for not moving over. I would have drove off and not called the cops to report an old pole. I have a friend who was doing a good deed by pulling someone out of a ditch and the car he was pulling went into a pole and knocked it over. They called the cops to report it and my buddy got charged 2000 for replacing the pole when he was trying to be the nice guy.

I expect the OP's insurance is going to be paying damages. Either from collision coverage or uninsured moterist coverage.
