Jeep front end - Making progress

Put new JKS sway bar links on over the weekend because one of the old sway bar links was disconnected (broke). It drove much better after that and even better after the front end alignment and wheel balancing today. We've only had the Jeep a few weeks. Prior to doing the front end work, it wobbled fairly bad.

One of the old sway bar links (BDS brand) was bent. It seems to me like it would take a lot to bend one. Any ideas what could cause one of these to bend?
