Mine ticks, grinds, growls, squeaks, bangs, even grunts at times. Always starts and brings me home.

The people who are most vocal about being dissatisfied with Jeep ownership are usually the ones who can't or won't learn the vehicle and do their own work.

Big Thunder said it well: "If you're not willing to learn or do it yourself, then you can prepare on predatory shops taking your last dime."

Have a wrenching party. That's what we do around here, when someone has a problem and needs help fixing it. All your out is money for parts and food and drinks. Plus you learn how to make repairs and make new friends.

hell you can pay me $1000 and il drive my happy arse from Colorado and fix all that for. You need to find a new shop because they are charging way to much for all that and at least change out U-joints by yourself.

I went to another shop and they're doing it for 1150 (including parts). I'm not going to work on it because I don't want to mess anything up. I'm not that great working on cars unless it involves changing oil

I'm 44 years old with a bad leg, and dumb as a box of rocks, and I could do all that work easy. Just replace the u joints first and see what happens. Nobody on here knew what they were doing until they tried and some times failed. Kids these days WOW!. if you are going to own a 4x4 and do any off roading at all then you need to learn. Otherwise buy a Honda Civic and never have to work on it again. My Jeep tics on acceleration all the time. I have driven it 15k miles like that and it keeps going.

Its more than ticking, as I've said before. Its incredibly loud and if I drove it for much longer it'd probably break. I need my jeep in two days because of my job so I just decided to pay. Done deal, call me lazy or whatever but its just not me, not right now.

If you can't work on your own vehicles sell the Jeep as soon as you can. Jeeps are awesome vehicles as long as you can do most of the work yourself. Your just going to keep dumping money into it. I know I wouldn't own a Jeep if I couldn't do the work myself. Shops over charge way to much.

The $1150 you just spent on all of that could have been down to a few hundred dollars after you bought the U joints, joint press and tools.

Describe the sound. If it is just a constant tick more than likely is a lifter which is VERY common on Jeeps.

If the noise was coming from your Tcase it would be more of a grinding noise. Dose your Jeep have a lift or bigger tires?

Jeep is stock, tires are 31s. Its a grinding with a ticking added on. Its really bad to be honest. I don't know how to describe it. The sub wouldn't even drown the noise out. Plus I trust these guys who are working on it.

Have you replaced the fluid in the Tcase? I personally would try that first, as well as replace all your u-joints.

Knock on wood, I have had to spend around $800.00 on repairing manufacturer problems with my Jeep in the 11 years, and 145K miles I have owned it. That is excellence. It is the best vehicle I have ever owned.
