Skyjacker and rough country are about the bottom of the barrel when it comes to lifts and there are a lot better options.

There are several problems with a straight up economy 4" suspension lift. The first is that unless you spend an additional $500-$1000 for an sye, adjustable control arms, and double cardan drive shaft, you wind up with a giant 1 1/2"-2" transfer case drop which defeats the purpose of the lift. The second issue is that the economy 4" lifts use tubular fixed lower control arms which are greatly inferior to the stock control arms because the only place they can flex is in the bushings. This leads to wearing bushings really fast (best case) or ripping control arm mounts off frames and axles (worse case).

I started out with a skyjacker 4" lift several years ago and was replacing the whole thing less than a year later.

Take a look at the Zone 4.25 combo lift. It will still get you up where you want to be in that price range and is a much much better way to go.

I was just looking what lifts 4WP offered and I personally don't see "good options" until you get to the Currie kits. So I would find a find a different installer who is willing the install the Zone Combo, or consider installing it yourself (took me 13 hours with rest breaks).

it's all based on what you want out of your jeep. is it more of a daily driver, weekend warrior, just for show? after you decide that. do your research and save. if you see a lift thats fits your wants/needs but its a bit out of your price range, then save a little more. dont settle.

I drive a stock jeep and have no desire to lift it. If I did though I would get the Zone combo. Some people want to knock the kit because of the body lift. They say it's not a true 4" lift like other budget kits.

The truth is though that a bone stock jeep can do everything the jeep in that video did other than when he flexed it on the mound of dirt and on the ramp. I think Zone knew that when they designed the kit. They built quality into a mild lift knowing that 90% of what people are going to do with their jeeps a stocker can do.

Other cheap lifts seem designed around getting the jeep as high off the ground as possible. The zone kit seems to be designed around the problems that lifts cause. They knew that in the end the off road capability was going to be there anyway.

I would find a different installer (or get some buddies and do it yourself). That $1200 RE kit includes the same fixed ca's I told you about in my earlier post. It also includes a transfer case drop.

4 Wheel Parts is going to offer what they can buy cheap and make the biggest profit margin on.

A T case drop is a sure indicator of cheap, low end, poseur equipment. It might be a stop gap for some folks while they save the cash for a SYE (or get a Rubicon) and CV drive shafts (still needed on a Rubicon). Fixed control arms with clevite rubber bushings, even if only on one end, I think I would pass.
