Hi, im totally clueless on how to fix my car. my boyfriend says my throw out bearing is going out and has been at least two months since it first started making noises. i haved a 2000 jeep wrangler sport 4.0 5 speed with 33s so its lifted i believe and was wondering how to tell exactly what is wrong with my car and how much it would rougly cost to get my throw out bearing fixed? also how long it would take to fix it?

but basically how much would it cost?

i want to do this the right way! please help!

Looks like she won't be doing it herself. I'd estimate $400 to get it fixed. They can do it in a few hours if they are not busy.

If it's the throwout bearing it won't make any noise when the clutch isn't depressed. Once you depress the clutch it will start making a racket. The bearing doesn't cost much it's the labor of putting it in that sets you back. You have to pull the transmission to replace it. That isn't to difficult if you have a friend that is capable. In a shop at $95.00 an hour it gets expensive. I'm sure a shop will give you an estimated flat rate price.

Don't go to a chain store. Find a reputable mom and pop shop. They will be the cheapest. Where are you located?

Mom and pops started at 650 and up, that's why I did all the work myself

Talon282. Do all my work myself too. Nice to save 100's of $'s. For those that can't they need to find good friends or stay away from the chains.
