Really? thanks man, last time i was at Imgrams I walked that pit for miles and all I found was a really old Willis that was almost done rusting, I called Johnson Mustang and truck parts, I can get the same thing online New for $10 more LOL
And my local pick and pull or U wrench it( whatever it is today) has enough Cherokees to keep me busy for years if I had one of those but no Wranglers.

I think I'll call them tomorrow.

Oh got an update on the insurance thing.....this sounds a little fishy to me, the adjuster called me today, and said that the left a message at the woman who hit me's work for her to call the adjuster, the adjuster said she has to get her side of the story before they can see if they will assume Liability for the accident. Now I have a serious question about that, is that normal? do they need both sides of the story or should I check into a lawyer?

Here's a good one for you guys.

Lotus Elise - got backed into by a truck. the receiver hitch went through the front clam of the Elise (the entire body forward of the doors is one piece called a clam).

13k damage to the Elise - 3 months to be repaired to the owners liking.

usually they do want to hear both sides of the story...if they try to claim you were at fault, then get the attorney. Doubt they'll try it though.

If there were tickets issued this will help your case, but lately the cops around here aren't issuing tickets for anything, hopefully the same isn't true where you live.

I was sitting at a toll booth in Chicago in my Wrangler a few years ago. The toll machine puked so no one could get through and after waiting several minutes laying on my horn, no attendant was coming any time soon either.

So I put my Jeep in reverse, looked behind me, waited a few seconds to find a clearing in the traffic so I could back out (reverse lights were on for some time) and traffic was light. It looked clear so I started to back up. I felt my rearend lift up and I stopped.

Some little Miata had pulled up within inches of my bumper and stopped there. He was so far up my arse that I couldn't see him while looking over my shoulder or in any mirrors. He wasn't paying attention as he ignored my reverse lights (didn't honk or bother to back up himself) and had to know I couldn't see him. It didn't help that my Jeep was lifted 4.5" and was sitting on 33's either and I had the soft top up. Anyway, I literally drove up onto his hood with my rear tires.

$4k in damage to his ricer, not so much as a scratch to my Jeep. I should have driven over him and pretended I didn't notice.

You are making me cry

I would have probably killed him.....

On a side note I tend to park the jeep in the compact car spots in parking garages so I just pull it in till I hit the wall.... The RR Bumper makes it super easy....

I haven't had an accident that hurt the jeep at all...... a car up in Dunkirk, NY thought it would be a good Idea to run into the smittybuilt src steps/rails the day after they were installed.....
bad news for the car...

Had same thing happen to me in my old miata. except I was 1 length behind him....I could see his face in his side mirror, and he never looked.

was about 4k in damage to mine as well. did nothing to the chevy p/u

I was laying on the 120db airhorn for a few seconds before impact, and a few after...he didn't notice until it lifted his truck off the ground either. I got to reverse at the same time he hit me, so it was too late. I soon sold the car as it wasn't the same afterwards.

Yup, me too. Hell once I got rearended in my 1979 Ranchero. if it wouldn't have been for my brother I'd have been arrested for assault. I was literally in mid air going to beat the hell out of the guy, when my brother grabbed me. The bumper he just ruined was worth more than the entire car. I was a little more easily angered back then, but if someone hits my elise, it may not end well. (it better total it, as I don't want a post wreck elise)

If I can't I'll probably just get a stock bumper and put my L bracket on that one
Don't worry about powdercoat, just buy some POR-15 and spray that on. It comes in a bunch of colors & finishes, and the stuff is almost as tough as powdercoat. When I finish my bumpers, that is what I am going to do.

In July I was rear-ended in my Pontiac Sunfire by a Chev Cavalier. The driver didn't even touch her brakes before she hit me at 60km/h and pushed me 10 feet into a Chev Equinox. Needless to say the 99 Sunfire and Cavilier was written off. The Chev I was pushed into didn't have so much as a scratch as a third of my front end ended up under the bumper.

So the point of this story: I took the insurance money and bought a TJ

Yup, I totally trashed the front end of a Nissan Armada last Fall. I was sitting at the merge on a busy off ramp and this short, chubby hispanic woman driving this monstrous SUV wasn't paying attention and smacked into my hitch haul attached to a Smittybilt SRC bumper. It slightly bent the hitch haul but that was it. Her front bumper and grill had a hole 6"X12" or so punched in it. I was headed out of town and in a heluva hurry, it was obviously 100% her fault and seein how she did practically zippo to my heep, we both just drove off.

On the other hand, the first time I took the dash apart to try and get the blower to work, my first thought on looking at the parts inside was not "legendary build quality." More like: "I wonder what the Benz engineers thought when they took one of these apart?"

I heard it was something to the extent of "holy clusterf'k Batman" only in German.

Wow I just got an update to this thread, I totally forgot about it. the lady's insurance company finally called me back about two weeks after I filed the claim admitting it was her fault, pretty obvious to anybody with half a brain since I was stopped at a red light, but anyway they cut me a check for the total amount that Hall Jeep Repair Center quoted me for replacing the bumper, and both jugs ( $441.56)
I went to Hall Jeep part dept and ordered a stock 2000 bumper for a 2001 Wrangler ( same exact Bumper) and put it on myself, I got a 2000 because I have a 420 class 1 hitch that bolts onto the bumper to yank my class1 trailer around. But the stock bumper will do until I order some 4"X4" square tube schedule 40 and make my own bumper for it , but I won't be doing that until I can do BOTH bumpers

Thanks for the info about POR-15 up2nogood, I'll keep that in mind, for paint after I make the bumpers and prime them.
