jeep's legandary quality:)

legendary quality and roughness my BUTT!
How about Jeep starts telling the truth and saying that Jeep have ALWAYS been built better than ANY other vehicle on the road!
Its more than just Legendary quality! it's legendary SURVIVABILITY also.

I got rear ended this morning I stopped at the red light at the corner of Holland and Dan Neck, and was waiting for the cross traffic to clear so I could make a right onto Dam Neck when all of a sudden BOOM, I hear a smashing, crunching sound and feel the Jeep lurch forward just enough to make me spill my coffee on my lap (no law suit for that) What I saw when I got out and looked amazed me to the point I want to ALWAYS drive a Jeep!, a white car, midsized, Honda or Nissan whichever one makes the Ford Contour looking front end, is what hit me, her car was totaled, I mean engine on the ground fluids everywhere along with steam hood fenders and all crumpled. She said " I thought you went" I cussed her out saying " what? the three big red lights didn't give it away that I was stopped? You shouldn't be allowed to drive you dam idiot"

Anyway her car totaled, My 2001 Jeep wrangler $441.65 for a new oem stock bumper and two rear jugs

Pic anybody?

Yea that's all she did to me
Legendary Quality? I think it goes a little deeper than that.

Glad to hear you and your Jeep came out unscathed! Are you serious . . . they wan't over 400 bucks for a stock bumper OMG that's nuts!!! Please tell me you are going to take the check from the insurance and not the repair . . . shoot I've got my old bumper sitting in my garage . . . 50 bucks and it's yours, milk jugs and all!!!

I had a girl back up into me right after installing my RockHard bumper and tire carrier . . . crumpled her panel like a coke can, took out her rear lights and everything . . . I had to look really close, but it looked like like she left about a 1/8 of an inch smudge in the powdercoat . . . she walked away with thousands in damage and I drove off with a smile and more love for my Jeep.

that is always why I tell people that all fears they have of the Wrangler's safety are complete misconceptions. This past winter I was on an icy hill, couldn't stop at the stop sign and ended up sliding 180 degrees and smashing into a parked Hyundai Elantra. Her hood, bumper, and grill were smashed... my car didn't have a single scratch on it I kid you not. The girl (a college girl ) was completely understanding and the nicest as could be. No cops called, just swapped insurance info and two weeks later got a call from State Farm just to confirm the incident (who btw I'll be with the rest of my life).

Glad to hear you, as well as the other driver, are okay. I would take the check and run. I know when a guy backed into my Mercury Cougar (then proceeded to ask me where I learned how to fucking drive ). Received a check for $1800... bought a $50 replacement fender from the local junkyard in perfect condition, just a different color. Didn't care, I could open the door and it was my first major car repair so I was really proud

Thanks guys

schmo ......yea 441.65 to be exact. this IS Va Beach ya know, car repairs here. is more popular here then breast implants in Hollywood

burton160w...Jeep will ALWAYS be the BEST

JeepnJim...Yea me too, it is kinda nice ain't it

T-BONE N BIXBY...20 years in the Navy, coffee ( to me ) is its own food group, believe me I cussed her out for that too

This is the bumper I'm looking at, the shop ain't touching the Jeep, I'm still breathing so I'll do it myself and save a few bucks

SRC Classic Rock Crawler Rear Bumper with 2" receiver and D-rings by Smittybilt and Other Jeep Parts and Jeep Accessories by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware

I can get a cheaper one for 129 but its not tow rated, I need at least class 1 for my little carry on trailer
And that's the cheapest one I can find that is tow rated, I'm not looking for a tube bumper or some rock climbing bumper, I don;t need that stuff to have fun I'm looking for a rear bumper that will kinda go with the stock front without the jugs, after its all said and done I'm getting the plugs for the front from the dealer for $12

Wolfen, I don't believe that bumper is actually tow rated. I have the same one on my Jeep. It does not come with the steel tabs to allow safety chains for towing. Also, the bumper only has a small tab for reinforcement in the 2" receiver. If you have a welder and access to steel, it is a simple mod to make the bumper more accessory freindly.

And to think, the things that make our Jeeps durable and safe are the things that our Government have been trying to decades to get rid of in the name of "fuel economy".

I can definitely appreciate our solid bumpers. Took the bumper off my Corolla one day and was amazed at just how light it was! I think it weighs about 18lbs of foam and plastic. Compare that to the probably 40-50lbs Warn steel bumper I have on the jeep. No contest.

what about the 80 bucks its gonna cost you to get the interior detailed, to get the coffee out of your seat. don't let the insurance co. off cheep. have them check it for square on a frame machine. nothing like finding hidden damage in 6 months when its too late. your spare is awful close to the point of impact, did you take it off and make sure the back door isn't bent?

Just a few thoughts.

I was just rear-ended in the rain on Monday night. Some moron decided to turn left from the middle lane 2 cars in front of me - the truck directly in front of me hit her brakes and went right, I hit mine and went left, the gal behind me decided to use me to stop. She needs a new bumper, headlight and fender pulled out. Not a scratch on the Jeep. Everyone is telling me to take it in to a shop to have it checked out...I'm not sure that the trip would be worth my time.

I tore a 30-ft solid wood light pole out of the ground and hurled it like 20 feet, and the only damage that my bumper's end cap got torn off, and the right side of the bumper was bent, and I was going to replace that ugly stock bumper anyways.

dude, you can get a stock replacement bumper from a junk yard for 40 or a brand new one for 90...install it yourself and pocket the rest of the money.

Plus you may wanna check on how easily the tail gate latch opens and closes (if you have the spare tyre on the back...she woul've hit that first)

The same thing happened to me, but it was a bigger toyota SUV that reared me at a red light...no damage was done to mine...but when the wrecker tried to pull her onto the tow truck...her front end was stuck to my trailer hitch ball and it ripped that clean off....my Spare tyre on the rear wasn't even scratched...I WAS AMAZED...but then again it is a machine of war. I feel like the safest SOB on the road knowing that if anyone hits me, they're SOL and my TJ is gonna be fine.

Yep rear door is fine, but the odds of me finding a Wrangler in a junk yard around here is slim to none. My only way to get one is go through the body shop or order one

I have a 100vac wire fed here at home, but at work I have 2 TIG welders one has a A/C welder lead also, 1 steel mig welder that takes NOS, 1 steel or alu welder, that one has both NOS and Argon, 2 portable A/C D/C generator/welder, and 2 very old left overs from when the shop I'm in was a Nike missile site. but I'm go8ing to cal 4wd and ask them if its tow capable, if its not I will probably go with a stock I can get online for $143 and put my angle Iron hitch back on.

Well heck Wolfen. Sounds like you have access to all the goodies to make a custom bumper. Good luck with your choice either way.

I do have all the stuff I need at work both equipment and supplies to make everything from a thin pos bumper to a 1/2" thick 8'x8' that would make the back end bend down, only problem is I have 2 choices if I make my own, bare steel or Galvanized steel, and around here power coating is as much as the bumper I have posted above, so I'm going to call 4WD and ask them if I can make it tow rated by welding a safety chain setup underneath. If I can't I'll probably just get a stock bumper and put my L bracket on that one

The Mustang belonged to the Command Sergeant Major of the Post's JAG unit. He had just received it as a present from his wife. He was deemed at fault (too far over in the left lane for me to safely pass him), and was given at least one citation. I was told that I was free to go as I pleased. His Mustang went home on a flatbed. I felt bad for him. He had quite the attitude at first until I came around his side of my Jeep, then he settled down. He called me that night and apologized. He turned out to be a pretty good guy.......for a pencil pusher.
