Jerry Can mounts!

I know this is a popular conundrum for jeep owners, and since I almost ran out of gas on the trail the other day, I figure this is something I should look into.

So. Can anyone tell me what a good mount fix for the Wrangler is? I've thought about mounting it up by the door, but that'll be a lot of fender modding. The swing-tire mounts seem like a good fix, but I can't find any that don't break my bank and since I'm just starting out modding my TJ, I figure other things like a brush guard should come first.

So. Thoughts on good, cheap, easy fixes? I don't mind doing some wrench-turning myself, I just want to know what other people have come up with!

Not sure on the mounts, but I was in harbor freight today and they have steel Jerry cans now for $39.

Excellent! I might have to check that out. I figure, if nothing else, I can have my Jerry can in the trunk for now.

Edit: Wait, that was funny but mounting a jerry can there is a really bad idea. Full jerry cans are heavy and in that position would place a grossly excessive amount of stress & leverage against the spare tire mount & tail gate. Don't mount a jerry can there. Really.

I saw one that had it on the gate right next to the Spare. I really think I'd like that.. Where do you guys have yours?
