Jerry If you are here tell me about this.

I found a HP30, and a 8.8 for the rear. I plan on putting in the 8.8 before the HP30 is finished being regeared. I have the 4.0 auto, and will be going 4.10 gears. I know the factory rubi's came with 4.10, but they did not have the 3 speed auto. I will be running some 31's until all is finished, then going to
33's. If I have to run a month or so how bad will it be? I dont want to sound like a ricer going down the road or blow up the motor. I will not have to do any highway trips, just about 3 miles to work.

Thanks
Mel

Yeah I know that part. I was going to remove the front shaft, so no one will do it. LOL

I was more worried about the RPM's. The max speed limit on the way is 45 MPH.

Thank you for not sounding like a ricer! LOL!
You should be fine. Ours has 3.73's on 31's and is an auto, and it's the proverbial church mouse. OK a church mouse wearing BFG KM2 shoes. Next to no noise from the tires, and even the little bit they make drowns out the engine other then those full bore runs to hit the freeway.

Heck come to think of it, that's why you have a radio. Crank it up to 11 (Spinal Tap)and you'll not hear a thing.

Pretty sure Jerry is going to say that's ideal for 33's.

Yeah I agree it is for 33's. I am worried about the RPM's with 31's until I can get everything together and get the 33's in and on.

It will only be about 150-200 rpm's more than the 3.73's, and at 45 mph the rpms should be tolerable until you get the tires. What gears do you have now?

I wouldn't worry about it Melissa, my 4.0L engine was over 3000 rpms regularly on the highway when I was running 4.88 gearing with 35" tires and the 3-speed automatic. The engine handles those types of higher rpms just fine.
