Jinx

I jinxed myself this weekend. I went wheeling with a bunch of my friends up at Rausch Creek yesterday. One of the guys in the group and I started talking about our tires since we both have GY Duratracs. They wear very well, give good grip considering they aren't a true MT, and are good on the road. I commented that a lot of people hate on them because they have thin sidewalls.

That was a mistake. About an hour later my son who was riding shotgun said he heard air leaking. We stopped and found the front passenger side tire was leaking. The sidewall was cut pretty good. I'm going to see if I can get a plug to hold and at least use it as a trail spare. I wouldn't trust it on the road though.

Nice I tore up my sidewall on my duratracs when I hit a deer the antler went through the sidewall. I took mine to an old school tire shop where the put a sidewall boot in it. I asked if that was safe and they said they wouldn't make them if they weren't safe. Well I use it on the back of plow pickup that don't see much driving. So there still might be a chance to plug it and use it as a spare.

Thanks, man. I'll look into that before I mess this one up.

Maryland Jeep Club wheels pretty much monthly. They are a great group of guys and girls with everything from stock to comp crawlers. The Westminster group gets together the second Tuesday of every month for food and drink. We usually have about 10 - 20 people show up. Other areas meet too but seem to have trouble getting a consistent turn out.
