JKS Body Lift and Six Speed

I'm getting ready to get the JKS 1.25" BL and MML. I have an '06 Unlimited with the 6 speed manual. I've read of people having trouble after the BL shifting into 2, 4, etc. It seems that it is related to the older accordian style boot binding up causing the shifter to pop out of gear. Does that mean I should have no binding problems with my leather shift boot?

I have an automatic so I am not sure but I have put a few body lifts in several vehicles anyway I think it is more to do with the rubber and foam that is below the actual shifter boot that you are talking about. If you think about it your shifter knob has way more travel than the shifter rod does at the base of the trans so once the body goes up it moves into the longer area of throw the shifter has.Maybe someone that has been there will chime in.

Do you have a manual tranny? I guess I need someone with a six speed manual who has done the BL/MML to chime in here.

If you read the JKS BL/MML reviews, there are people who mention this problem.

Yeah that is what I thought you were talking about!! It states here
JKS 1.25", 1" BMML
Date: Dec 10, 2005

The body lift took a little over an hour with two people helping. Much easier than I thought it would be. Did the 1" BMML at the same time so did not have to move fan shroud, or install the linkage bracket. Already had a T-case drop, so with the factory rubber "accordian" shifter, it would bind and I was unable to get into 2nd, 4th, and reverse. Bought the 05'+ shift boot from the dealer, and am tickled with it now.

So I am figuring you will be ok.But I still think it would be the insulation below the shifter boot itself.I have ran into that on others but I am not sure maybe the Wrangler doesn't have the foam below the boot.If not you should be ok.Bump for more info.

You didn't state that you had a six speed before you just mentioned a bracket.I think that bracket would be for the 4WD shifter not the transmission shifter? BTW orange do you have the leather or rubber boot, and do you have foam insulation under the shifter boot???

I have the leather boot, it had foam under it but I removed it because after i did the suspension lift and tcase drop I couldnt shift because it hit the console. (i have a post here somewhere showing the pics of my mutilation of it) I had no problems when I had just the bl. The bracket I mentioned included was for the tcase linkage. I thought he was reffering to the 4wd shifter because I did have problems engaging it into 4h, so I took the bracket off and it was fine. Only reason why I didnt state I had 6 speed because the title asked for 6 speed with bl and it would have been pointless for me to post if I had an automatic.

I called JKS and spoke to a tech. I explained my setup and asked him if he thought I would have a problem. He said, "I have no idea." But he went on to say that about 95% of the people who use their BL/MML with the 6 speed don't run into any trouble shifting gears, but if you do, it's simply a matter of a little trimming under the boot and then hiding the hack job by reinstalling the boot. Nuff said about that.

Now, does anyone have any suggestions on the best place to order the JKS BL/MML? He told me I would pay full retail for it if I ordered direct from JKS. I'll search the WEB, but maybe someone could save me some time in the price comparison shopping.
