I'm in the market for a front track bar and am stuck between JKS or Metalcloak. Which is the better one to go with for a 3 inch lift with occasional offroading. Mostly easier trails.
I ran a JKS trackbar very briefly. It would've worked fine if I was only driving on the street but it required too much bumpstop to make it useful offroad. So I pulled it off and put on a Metalcloak trackbar.
I just purchased a MC front adj track bar and 4.25" zone combo lift. Literally. Lol. From every post I've read MC is hands down the best option. I ordered it having no doubt it was the best decision. I thought it was $180.00 w/ free shipping but I was mistaking. Although it came to $201.00 w/ shipping I still feel very confident and happy w/ my purchase.
This is a question I to am pondering, I am leaning towards the metal cloak, seeing that it chromoly and what I have seen should have plenty of clearance for the diff. The only thing some people say about the metal cloak compared to the jks is that it uses a Heim joint, where jks uses greaseable joints. But I'm leaning towards metal cloak for the price, clearence and chromoly.
unless something has changed, the MC bars are not heat treated after they are worked, so a lot of the additional strength from the alloy is lost. that said, they are still beefy as hell and i have zero complaints in the 18 months that i've had mine
I'm looking forward to hearing about MetalCloaks "Newest" offering with the Duratrak bushing, I have the first version of the track bar and has worked great but this clevite alternative looks pretty sweet.
I run the JKS front and rear. No problems. They did come with my OME Ultimate kit. That being said, if I was only purchasing the front track bar, I would go with the MetalCloak. A quality piece at a less expensive price.

currie is meant for ~4"+ of lift. you can modify things to run less bump & less height though...
the JKS #126 is the best choice for ~2.5" of lift, if you're willing to run a V8 ZJ tie-rod, and can get down to about 1" front bumpstop extension with your other limiting factors. a straight tie-rod like stock will need 2" front bumpstop extension.
the Metalcloak front bar is good for those with ~3"-4.5" of lift or willing to live with a slightly off-center axle with 2" of lift. It's also good for those looking to maximize uptravel with highline fenders, extensive shock mount & suspension modifications. Requires no bumpstop extension for itself...but obviously other factors come into play...
i was thinking the same, and imagine it would be. it could be a bit larger than the eye on the old bar, but it cant be any wider than the oem bracket. either way, its a bit down my list of projects
