Jrzy Needs the Experts help again...

Wassup guys and gals

Just blew out my Dana 35 rear axel ( But had a ton of fun doing it) Any way have a couple questions. I saw a dana 44 front and rear that someone is selling for 500 bucks with a 3.31 gear ratio. Is that good for what im runing? (35's with 4 inch lift).....Should I look elswhere? and I wanna do some sort of locker for this is trutrac or detroit good? I know the usual experts are still out there so any input helps me out guys thankssss

3.31. and 35's will not be a good match. what are the dana 44's out of? tru track is not a locker it is a very nice limited slip unit. Detroit is a full locker and works very well. How much street time does the jeep see?

Jeep sees alot more street time then trail time. The dana 44 was out of a 89 woody wagon...And is the tru track good for there selling price or should i jump to a detroit

You will need new rims or wheel adaptors as the woody 44 uses a 5.5 pattern as I recall, and of course all the brackets..Trutrac works nice in front axles that see lots of street, not odd handling issues. Off road it will be decent when used with a true locker in the rear. Most issues with tru's happen when one wheel gets in the air.. game over.

whats up Jrzy i live right in bayville and i think ive seen you around is your tj black? anyways ive been very lucky in what i have found i got a detroit full carrier used 30 spline for $218.00 shipped off craigs list and alloy USA 30 spline shafts for $100 on craigs (which should be here any day now) still deciding whether to go with 4.56s or 4.88s. if your looking for a d44 keep looking and you will find one. but me i dont have the tools to do a whole axle swap or the money im a college kid on a budget that knows how to bargain shop lol. so if you decide not to go with a d44 try looking for a d35 locker and 30 spline shafts. the 30splines will hold up fine with 35's.

Make sure it's the right size as well 61-62" I believe are most TJ's and you'll probably have to get brackets mounted on it as well. I want to think that it probably had leafs out back.

I think either on jeepforum.com or pirate someone was selling a bolt-in Ford 8.8 already set-up for a TJ. Look for those as well and try getting them in the 31 splines as well

Chris
