Just a thought - that turned into a ?

Anyone ever put a sunroof in a hard top?

There are times when I don't have it off and would like to 'open' up the Jeep on the way home from work. We bounce from snow one day to 70 degrees the next during the spring and I get tired of taking off/putting on the hard top each day.

I was thinking a sunroof may be okay but didn't know if anyone has ever put one in on a hard top.

I can't imagine that it would flex the top or make it weaker. Anyone tried this? Thoughts?

yes you can put one in a hard top it's been done many times. Someone makes a kit for it but i dont remember who???

But is does depend on what hardtop you have...is it the smooth top one? or the one with the 2'' wide rain channel's down it? the smooth one is no problem to install the one with the ridges "rain channel's" would take some extra fiberglassing to make work.

Yeah - I have three channels on my roof or I'd probably do it. I'd really hate to leak during the winter with all the snow we get around here. I guess I may have to look into a soft top. I've seen some used but they didn't have the hardware. Heck, I haven't even seen a soft top up close around these neck of the woods. The vast majority are hard tops so I'm not even certain what the hardware looks or connects like.

Appreciate the input.
