Just another tire thread

So I am back looking at tires again. The BFG AT's are what ive had my eyes on for a while. My problem is the jeep is not mine, i am in college and my dad paid for it. He says NO lift whatsoever and I have to keep the same wheels. Will the 31/10.50's look goofy and too big on a stock 03 sport? He also has been asking my about the speedometer, he says he wants it to be accurate. Any input would help greatly.

03 sport
3.07 gearing
dana 30/35 rear
currently i have 235 KUMO's

31/10.50s on stock rims will look great, but the backspacing means you will rub when you turn the wheel either direction hard. I'm not sure about the speedo but when i changed my old '00 blazer from stock to 31 AT/KOs the speedo was slightly off and i was told by a few people it could be adjusted. Sorry I'm not an expert but ive asked the same general question and those were the answer I got. Hope it helps.

For the speedometer just change a 20 bucks (appropriate) gear and it will be accurate with any tire size (gear depends on how big the tire is)

31s will be fine. How about a body lift or just a small spacer lift? I'm guessing he doesnt want it to end up being huge.

does he know trucks at all? I am pretty sure he wont even notice a 1" lift lol

The speedometer has a counter or something like that, that uses a small plastic gear. When you replace the tires you can change the gear with the appropriate gear and it will read everything correctly again (speed and odometer)

with the 31s honestly it will be like 3 miles off at 60 mph and like 1-2 miles at 30 so i find it worthless to get a new gear. I have 35s and the stock gear and still havent changed it.

Fir that size tire it's not that easy. My father-in-law has 32" tires and 3:07 gears. We haven't been able to find the gear for it.
His speedo is not off far enough to bother him, so we quit looking.

since you can lift it,, if you want more clearance, just take a sawzall to the front and rear fenders. he didnt say anything about not doing that

i really think that my dad not letting me lift the jeep 2inches is just a power issue to him, even though he says he wants to "keep the jeep as stock as possible"
