Just bought a TJ with mods

This is my first jeep and it's a used 2004 sahara with afe ram intake and banks power monster cat back exhaust. The previous owner seems to have taken good care of it but I don't think it has been tuned. Can you give me some ideas to get it tuned so it's running efficiently? I saw that banks power sells a programmer. Is there a way to hook up a laptop to it and program the factory ecu?

Congrats on getting a Wrangler!

As stated, programmers do very little. Your best options are to replace all oil fluids (diffs, trans, xfer, and motor), replace spark plugs, replace O2 sensors (if needed), clean the Throttle Body and its attached sensors (like the IAC). Jeep should be happy then.

Welcome to the world of Jeeps. Parts such as thos do yield some results on other vehicle but the Chrysler 4.0 they really do nothing for. There is no laptop software for much of the Chrysler product line for tuning.

Thanks for the suggestions. Right now I'm getting crappy gas mileage on the highway. Looks like my weekends are gonna be booked for a while.

Define crappy gas mileage on the highway? You do know crappy gas mileage and Jeep Wrangler go hand in hand correct? Not trying to sound like a jerk, but we do drive a cinderblock on wheels... not exactly the most aerodynamic vehicle on the road...

Welcome to the forums and congrats on the new Wrangler! Got any pictures? Manual or auto?

Welcome to the Forum

As stated above, all the chips and after market add ons are not going to do much if anything in the quest to acheive better mileage. It is what it is. Your driving style is what is going to make the biggest difference and when doing your tune-up, make sure that you use manufacturer specified products, especially plugs.

Your rig looks great and has a lot of potential. Congrats.
