Just Bought My First!

Just stopping in to introduce myself. I'm Brad, 33, married, father of a six-year old girl and a 2-year old son who LOVES Jeeps. I picked up a 2003 Sahara on Friday with just 52,000 miles on the clock.

Looks like it's got about a 3" lift, black double hoop bumpers, KC fog lamps, and a bikini top. I'd like some black tail light guards and mirror relocation brackets. I'm going to paint the headlight bezels to match the body, and I'm going to swap the chrome fogs for ones with black housings.

Welcome to the crazy house! Remember what JEEP is short for. Just Empty Every Pocket. Save money by scuffing the chrome fogs and plastidip them or bed line them. Lots cheaper.

Very nice, love the Sahara's in that color! I missed one in that color with green seats a year ago. Have fun!

Thanks! I bought it Friday, had a funeral on Saturday, and went to the beach Sunday...in my wife's Expedition. So here I am on the gulf coast for a week without my new toy.

Sorry about the loss. Congrats however on the purchase! So, welcome to the world of hating taking anyone else's vehicle. I don't like backing out of the drive way without her.....she's like leaving a dog at home.

nice '03 Sahara! I too just got a Sahara (July 2012), it is a 2002 w/ 74K miles but 100% bone stock and not so much as a door ding on it. It is my 1st Wrangler although I have been driving Grand Cherokees since 1996.

Does your '03 have the Dana 44 rear axle? did it come w/ the hard top?

Love my '05. Just passed 260K miles, runs like the day I got it! Here's a photo from 'Quarter Million Mile Day' back in June:

I see you are in Vestavia. That is a fine Jeep. I sold my 97 6cyl 5 speed to buy a 2005 6cyl auto with 50k miles just recently. Aside from white, which both my jeeps have been, that is my favorite color. I'm pretty sure I looked at that one but it was a 5 speed and my wife wanted to get an auto because she doesn't like to drive a stick. I would have bought that Jeep if it had been an auto.

Congrats

Congrats on your Jeep! Just got mines a few weeks ago also! Don't forget to wave!

Oh and JLRTech this is one of the reason's I love Jeeps! I brought my Jeep a few weeks ago with 57K miles on it so she has a alot of life left in her... She will last a long time before hitting 300K miles!

Fine lookin' ride you got there, welcome to the family!
Happy Jeeping! (oh, and remember to never refer to it as a 'car'. My Jeep got very upset when I made that mistake!)

On your foglights, you can do what I did and paint them to match your paint color. It was very simply using Duplicolor that matches the OEM paint code. Did the ring clamps in Satin Black.

How can I tell if it has the Dana 44?

I did not get a hard top with it. It has a brand-new Bestop and a safari top. I don't know what happened to the original hard top. It has buttons for rear windshield wiper and defroster though.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check that out.

Chili Pepper was my first choice, and I found a couple that I really wanted, like this beauty in Montana with just 53K miles, but it sold before I could get a quote on shipping.

Nice!
I'm hoping to get that far in mine.
Does the odometer flip at 300k? My Jetta did.

Check the chart below, you will have a Dana 35 or Dana 44 in the rear and a Dana 30 in the front.

Its possible it didn't come with one. You'll need to run your VIN number through and get your Build Sheet to be sure. The presence of the switches is not 100% proof of a build with one. However it sort of hints at one being on at some point. I say this because my Son's TJ has the switches and a Bestop replacement top on it so we also figured it had come from the factory with a Hardtop. But... the build sheet told us otherwise! It came with a soft top. Someone may have put a hard top on it later and for some time ran it that way. The build sheet will tell you a lot. Including if it came with a Dana 44 as well. There is a thread around here that has a link to a Build Sheet generator. Find it and use it.

By the way, sound like you need to set that jeep up to tow behind the wifes Expy. You could have had both at the beech!

Welcome to the fold.

Yes, it has the Dana 44, and yes, it originally came with a hard top, but I have no idea where it is now...
