just bought my first wrangler

Jusr bought 2004 wrangler with 243000 miles. Drives like new. Got it home and checked it out. The only leak is the rear main seal. It does not have the DW. It has 31 inch tires. The paint on the hood is coming off is that a common problem?

My hood is pealing also. I think it is from bad prep and under hood heat.Welcome to the addiction.

Post a picture! Never had an engine rebuild? I've heard they can go 200,000 to 250,000 miles but haven't seen too many real life examples. My rear main leaks too. Its kind of a pain to do yourself and its around $400-500 for a shop to replace. Mine only drips so I have just left it for now.

Just got my 04 as well and had the exact same problem. Found a paint shop nearby who shot the hood for $150 and matched it up pretty well. I have the same oil drip on mine and have been told to expect it so, if it's still just a drip, dont sweat it. Welcome to the community and enjoy !!!
