I have a stock 1998 TJ and I would really like to lift it. I am considering buying the Zone Offroad 4.25 inch Combo Lift which has a 3 inch suspension lift, 1.25 inch body lift, and a 1 inch motor mount lift. I've read really good reviews on it but the only thing I'm skeptical about is their claim that they do not need a transfer case drop OR a steering stabilizer. I want to get Goodyear Duratrec 33x12x5 tires for it.
One thing to consider when lifting and adding larger tires is a re-gear, which is quite expensive. Your Jeep already has a steering stabilizer, or correctly a steering dampener. The Zone combo lift does get a lotta love, I hear it is a great lift. I can't comment on the need for a TC drop with it though.
Thanks man!!! She's my first ever Wrangler and I've only had her to 2 weeks! My current gear ratio is 4.11 and my Jeep is a 4 banger - do you think I need to regear? I'm willing to go down to 32s if that would help keep acceleration and lessen the load on the axles (D35 in the rear).
Well I run 4.11 gears with a 4" lift and 33's but with the 6 cyl. and I have no problems. Some would say I would do better with 4.53 or 4.88 though. I'm not sure how well the 2.5 will perform with 4.11 and 33's but I can't imagine it would be too horrible.
Yeah I feel like it wouldn't be bad but it wouldn't be optimal. Do you think a 2 or 3 inch lift with 32s would be a lot better? Or is the difference negligible in your opinion?
I have a 97 with 4:10 gears and 33 duratracks. 2.5l engine. Zone combo lift. Great lift, east to install. My recommendation would be to get an adjustable front trackbar instead of drilling the holes. I have no vibes with the MML.
I can cruise the hwy fine at 75, going up hills is slow though. I think you will be happy. Ill regear when I do the 8.8 swap to 4:88.
Yeah I was definitely thinking of getting the adjustable track bar, I don't wanna drill holes into things that shouldn't have them! Are vibes with the MML a common occurence?
And that's great news - this lift definitely seems to be the one for me. Have you seen any lost power in the lower gears? I'm only going to be using it for DD/Weekend Warrior.
AMAZING!!!! We even have the same color! How has performance declined or improved since you've gotten the lift? Any other issues with it? Have you had to add anything more to it, such as the alignment cams?
You won't be disappointed with the zone 4.25"!! And it's really not too bad of an install. If you have some simple tools and floor jack and jake stands you should be able to do. I know a guy on here named WaterDog (I think that's his name) has a document that shows the easiest way to install the springs so you don't have to use a spring compressor.
will you be getting the metal cloacal adjustable trac bar for the front??
Plan for about 13 hours to install it by yourself not being in a rush. That includes taking some meals and rest breaks. I would do the springs, shocks, brackets, links, and bumpstops in one day and then the Body/MML the next day...or vise versa.
That sounds ideal. My friend is a mechanic so I'll probably use his shop (he has all the tools and lifts required). He'll probably lend a hand if I get stuck as well haha.
This is my 97 2.5L 5 speed on 31's w/ the Zone 4.25" lift. The best advice I can give u is start PB blasting all bolts and nuts! I started 1 month before I actually did the lift and it made a huge difference. Some say Kroil is the best but I've not tried it. Unless ur steering damper is bad u won't need it. I will advise u to purchase the MetalCloak adj track bar.
I'm happy w/ the lift and will put 33's on hopefully by July. I bet you'll b happy w/ the lift. It took me 26 hours total. 2 days at 13 hrs each. I took my time and had a few set backs but w/ all the tips and info I got from here it really helped! B sure to read over the instructions so ur familiar. It will feel like you've done it before if u go over it enough. Lol. Good luck and happy jeeping.

Sick TJ man!! Looks exactly like I want mine to look. Definitely has that aggressive look I'm going for. I plan on getting an adj track bar with the lift I get regardless of height that's a good thing haha. Hopefully I can install mine in the same manner, it feels weird paying someone to do work on MY Jeep!
Ebay has it for 530 with free shipping. But still does anyone know anyplace where the lift is cheaper?
