That's ridiculous...Does he know the mods you can buy for a TJ with $400!
Enjoy your project....I'm going to be attacking my differential gaskets soon.

I thought the gasket was most expensive, so I asked him how much it was he said $45. So then I was really confused. Here is the price break down.
Oil and filter: $50
Gasket for oil pan: $45
Labor: approx 3.25 hours=300 something.

Now with my pricing

Mobil 1 high mileage 10w-30 5 quarts: $26
Oil filter: $10ish
Gasket: $45
Labor: 5ish hours: free.
Total price? $81
Savings? Over $350 well worth it dont you think?

At $100/hour labor, you might as well have a dealership do it...

Good you can do it your self, the hardest task is breaking the rusty bolts on the exhaust, but with what you are saving....you can buy a new exhaust.

Should take you less than 3 hours, if you have done it before probably closer to 2 hours.

So I have to drop the exhaust? I thought I'd be able to slide the pan out of the way..

Not sure if you can jimmy the pan around the pipe. The last one I did I remember removing the exhaust pipe..
