just shoot me now....

my 98 4 banger is driving me nuts. i've replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor. it cranks up fine and drives fine for a few miles until it warms up and then i get this really bad miss. engine check light does not come on. and the hotter outside it is the worse it is.

Could it be a temp sensor?

Oil temp sensor is probably bad. However, your check engine light should come on though if thats the case.

Correction. You should still get a Check Engine light, but try the "crankshaft position sensor". It is small and innocuous, but if it goes bad (and mine did from bumpy trails) your jeep will drive like total crap.

very true, but when I had a vehicle w/ one go bad it wasn't temp dependant. I've seen coils go 1/2 way out and they only gave issues when temps warmed up....

get out that Ohm meter and start testing stuff.

oh does the CEL turn on when you start the Jeep? (make sure the bulb isn't burnt out.)

is there a possibility of water sloshing around in the gas?

See if it will sit in one spot and idle until it is warm.

Water will bother you the most after taking off, after stopping or after going around a corner. Little bits will get sucked into the fuel line when the gas sloshes around.

Just something to check for...

o2 sensor? I had a bad one and after the Jeep warmed up it would cut out badly. Something to check if you haven't already.
