Knocking?

Hi everyone,
This has been the best site for information that I have found. I recently bought a 04 wrangler x, 6cyl 5sp that was hit in the front end. Prev owner started fixing and then sold it to me. I got a deal that was great, but since have put alot of money and time into it, so I now know it wasn't that great of a deal. But anyway, I can't wait to get it done.. He(prev owner) put a 3 1/2 pro comp lift on it. I had to change the whole front end assembly. I have it coming along good, took it for a ride after getting it aligned, and it has some vibration. Figure to do a t/c drop and see if that will work till I can get a sye/cv and adjustable upper control arms. But the one thing that bothers me is the engine knocks at low rmp(starting out) or low rpm going up hill. Any ideas?

Bad gas maybe? Was there any damage to the engine after the hit?

I replaced rad and fan, but it did not hit that area very hard. But I never thought about the gas. It has been sitting for a long time and I did not put any new gas in it due to it was 3/4 full. I will fill it up and put a can of seafoam in and see if that helps at all.

Is it a knock or a tick? And where's it coming from. Bottom end or top end?

If it's the engine could be lifter tick and if it's noisy when you first start the jeep, piston slap is common especially on an older jeep with higher mileage.

Its a knock, not a tick. Hard to tell where its coming from. I did not drive it much, will get it out more this weekend, just wanting to try to get some things to check.

Don't have to drive it, ya can tell at a idle. Try holding a rod to the oil pan, I know sounds dumb, but put you ear to the other end . You will know if its coming from that far down.... if it is very good chance its a rod knock.

It is just when you start out( just let the clutch out) and when driving up hill and RPMs are low. Other than that it sounds fine.
