leak

2004 TJ 2.5 5 speed, 5800 miles on it with 4inch lift and running 33x12.5

now the for question, I found a leak or should I say what looks like transmission fluid on the skid plate that covers the transfer case. This leak looks to what us old military guys would call a class 1 to a slight class 2 leak.... The problem I have it finding out where it is coming from. I have checked all over the transfer area and other tranny area but see no signs of a leak.. I notice this leak a couple weeks back after I took it in to have the lift checked out after the purchase and figured the guy that inspected it check the fluid level on the transfer case, so I cleaned the skid off, well my guess was wrong after inspecting it last night, the leak is still there. Can anyone point me in the direction that I should inspect more closely, and possible give me a detail of the part to look at.

There is a seal in the output shaft of the tcase (where the driveshaft attaches) that's a pretty typical place for it to leak. Those seals do where out. Might try there.

ok went out this afternoon and it look like the leak is starting around the sensor unit at the back of the transfer where the rear drive shaft is....Is this possible? Is there a seal that maybe went bad here?

Ah, that's going to be your speedo gear. Could easy have that little seal go out in it. That's an easy one to fix up and I think if you pull it out real quick you can find the right size O Ring for it at any parts store or home improvement store.
