LED all the way around

A couple a months ago I put a set of LED tail lights on and I really like them. So I bought LED bulbs for my turn signals and side marker lights, and my underhood light.

They all worked out great. Nice and bright. The ones for the side marker lights were printed circuits with the diodes being part of the pc board. They make a lot of difference.

Just for measurement, before I put them in, I turned off the light in the garage (at night) and switched on my hazard lights. Then I put the LED's in. The underhood light was the most involved. What a difference.

If you do this you will need a different flasher. Its under the cover on the steering column. I ran rear LED's and front stock incandescent for a couple of months before I did this change out.

If you are considering doing this, It really makes your jeep more visible, and its very simple and not that expensive. Well, the tail lights were pretty steep but the bulbs weren't. You can also keep your OEM tail lighthousings and just buy the bulb to save quite a bit of cash.

Pics please! I've been thinking about doing this and my interior lights for a while. Need to find some money.

To clarify, when you say you ran "LEDs in the rear and stock incandescent up front" you are still referring to the side markers and turn signals correct? Or did you install LED headlights as well.

I did LEDs all the way around my LJ jeep and love it alot, but I went with clear lenses too to give it a little more. Here are pictures of the lenses.

And here are 6K HIDs that I installed on my LJ as well and love them so much. Makes a big difference in lighting. Lights up the whole road and even the tree tops!! haha

Heres links for all the LED bulbs I got too, note though these LEDs in these links are for TJs, just a heads up if you dont have a TJ.

Turn Signals

Do you still need to replace the flasher if you replace the bulbs only and not a set of led tailights?

No LED headlights, thanks for allowing me to clarify. After I replaced the rear tailight housings, a couple of months later I replaced the front turn lights. I retained the stock lenses but swapped out the bulb for the LED unit. Same for the side marker lights.

The biggest difference is the rear stop/tail lights. I bought the RR? units that look like the stock housing. I also bought two extra NOS rear housings with the connector. I gave up trying to find the connector on its own. Then I was able to splice in a stock connector onto my LED housings so it was plug and play. Should I ever want to put my stock lights back on, all I have to do is unplug the LED's and plug back in the original lights.

Plus I was able to solder the wires, then use Marine Shrink Tubing so as not to worry about chopping up the OEM wiring. (Which is typically a mistake).

Be advised on ANY mod you do on the rear passenger side of a TJ there is some kind obstruction just behind the corner. I *think* its the anti-rollover device that shuts off the fuel. So you cannot drill, bolt or cut too deeply. I had to use 1/4 x20 nutserts to attach the housing.

Anyway, RESULTS: now, when I put on my brake and look in the mirrors, if there is a stop sign 50-60 yds to the rear, it lights up from the reflection of my brake light. It makes drivers notice and I can see their hoods dip when I hit the brakes.

I got all of the LED lamps from a sponsoring vendor here: SuperbrightLEDs.com. I have no dog in this hunt, you can buy them wherever you wish. Even FleaBay for all I care, but you will like them if you do the swap plus they will not make your P4 battery so much as hiccup.

.
That is the evap canister. Not an anti-rollover device. They moved them there in 03-06 I believe. The older TJs like my 01 its all under the hood
