sense I have been reading through the DOT regulations for the past hour those no make you illegal. Not that the lights themselves are illegal but it has taken away your reflective side markers that were built into the side of the original tail lights. Though I doubt anyone would stop you for it and/or an inspector fail your vehicle. I just thought you would like to know.

Quote:
S5.1.1.3 Intermediate side marker devices are not required on vehicles less than 30 feet in overall length.
Quote:
S5.1.1.4 Reflective material conforming to Federal Specification L-S-300, Sheeting and Tape, Reflective; Non-exposed Lens, Adhesive Backing, September 7, 1965, may be used for side reflex reflectors if this material as used on the vehicle, meets the performance standards in either Table I or Table IA of SAE Standard J594f, Reflex Reflectors, January 1977.
Quote:
TABLE IV—LOCATION OF REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

Reflex reflectors ........

On the rear-1 red on each side of the vertical centerline, at the same height, and as far apart as practicable .
On each side-1 red as far to the rear as practicable, and 1 amber as far to the front as practicable .
I know I saw that someone got a 2" led to put on the sides and another that just got reflective little circles and put them on the sides. BTW here is the DOT reg page

He thinks our LED tail lights are cheesy.
I personally just think he's envious.

Yeah, I didn't like the price of the ORO's either.
At the same time, I didn't want to drill out a 2-4" hole for the flush mount LED's.
So I bit the bullet, so to speak.

The ORO's have outer edge LED's to keep you compliant at night.
Obviously, during the day there isn't a visible side marker.
ORO gives you some sticky red reflective tape to keep up to the regulations,
but I'm not sticking that sh*t on my Rig.
The way I look at it is:
If I get pulled over, and the Cop wants to be a jerk,
he's gonna nickle and dime me for everything else I've done with my Jeep,
not just the tail lights.
Piss on 'em!

Didn't realize that they were a no cut solution. that makes it more desirable.

I checked my numbers again and found that I miscalculated the resistor values. They were for a set of 5 and not 15 so they were 3 times the value than they should have been(which gave only 1/3 the current). I set it up and they are looking pretty good. I am going to sleep now but I did get some pics and will post tomorrow.

Oh and tomorrow I am going to find something to mount it. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Alright, so I have been busy for the past few days but I got some time to run to the hardware store to pick up supplies to mount the lights. Bunch of nylon screws and plastic mounts. Going wheeling this weekend so I can test it out. Of course I will carry my original bulbs around just in case they go out.

Also I got a request for the pics of the dome light leds. Here you go.

Well, I got them installed last week but didn't get the chance to update this. I used nylon screws and some kind of plastic thing used for wood drawer rails. I mounted that to the bottom of the thin piece of metal separating the brake and reverse light.

neat... I also vote for the ORO led lights... I've got them on my rig... easy to install and fully sealed... no drilling or hassel..
