Let's Play Name That Connector!

Okay this first loose connector is on a wire down near my center console and I traced it to somewhere up near the steering wheel...I just hope that it does not belong to the airbag or something like that but I would think a connector for that would look different.

The harness that connector goes into up near the steering wheel:

This next connector is just a white plug that is dangling under the steering column:

Do you guys have any ideas of what these connectors belong to?

Thanks so much,

Wes

Airbag things have yellow plugs so that's not it. What it is? Dunno.

What year is your Jeep? 5 speed or auto? The first harness looks like a bulb socket for the PRNDL Bezel on an automatic. Unsure of the other one

It's a '97 with 4.0 and manual. Do you suppose jeep put the connector there, regardless of whether or not they were automatic? I tried to figure out through the factory service manual, but it appears that there is no illumination for the t-case lever right?

Thanks,

Wes

The wiring harnesses are the same, 5spd or auto. That does look like the bulb socket for the auto tranny gear indicator.

There a few connectors on mine that don't connect to anything, I was always wondering that myself.

Correct the T-Case does not light up, the Autos have a light down there. I looked up the white connector and it is also for automatics, it is for the ignition/shifter interlock so you cannot take it out of park with the ignition off or foot on the brake.

The white/pink wire is for the brake switch and the Blue/white wire is for the ignition.

Be prepared to find a lot of unused connectors throughout your Jeep as they use one harness for all different packages
