Smitty basic cheap Chinese front bumper. Bought it 4 years ago on sale for $60. I have whacked a tree with it, and have been backed into off road a couple of times. I'm waiting for it to explode so I can buy a new one.

I really gotta get one of those frame covers. I didnt know it it would work with my lift/bumper combo due to the way the sway bar is and all but it looks like it will. Where did you guys get yours? I like the ones that say Jeep.

...any who, smitty built xrc in front and rear. Im sorry every one else thinks they are cheap and crap. Those ppl can buy me a new one. As for the rear...I hit a very solid very big drainage pipe pretty hard and it took it like a champ.

Thanks, its just the plain Jeeperman Light bar.
Jeeperman: Single Hoop Light Bar for Front Bumpers
One of the reasons I was drawn to the bumper is that the design is made so that it goes up and over the sway bar. Which made it different then most the other bumpers out at the time.

Well crap I guess your right that was a color for 97 and 98. Still the best green there is, my wife argues with me that it's blue not green. I say that's Jeep magic baby!!

I realized the jeep frame covers were stock. I wonder if a stocker will still work on mine.

I had the Jeeperman light hoop. My Jeep popped out of gear and it rolled into another Jeep down a hill (about a 10' roll).

Here's what it did:

That is even with grade 8 bolts and washers. It peeled it back pretty good. I'd SERIOUSLY advise ya to weld it up. My new hoop/stinger is welded to a 1/4" plate which sits directly on top of the frame. It is VERY solid there now.

That Jeeperman hoop bent back, cracked my Warn 9.5's motor housing, solenoid housing, bent the winch plate a tiny bit (not enough to replace it), and bent back my grill where the winch hit it.

I'm now very leery of bolt on light bars.

Yep, both of you must have PGF. Look on your door label (driver side).

I'm getting rid of the useless vents - I have a 2000 cowl cover being painted up with my paint code that will replace it.

THIS IS NOT MY BUMPER. Lol

These are pics from another thread here.

They are from a Kansas City Craigslist ad that lists this Jeep as having a "custom railroad tie bumper".

I like my bumpers very simple, short, and lightweight. This is the superb Savvy Offroad bumper, made from T-6 6061 aluminum.

Works GREAT for that when we are camping! I also use it to stand on when working on the jeep! I love having that much area...

I'm no fan of smittybilt quality. You get what you pay for, and smitty is cheap. I just think that bumper looks to raw to pass up.

I personally haven't had a problem with smittybilt quality. Sounds like a lot of folks do i guess.
I was so happy with the front, I went and got rear and sliders. I guess the only complaint i got is washing the mud out

Only problem I've heard with smitty front bumper is bad powder coating. Which is an easy remedy if you need it.

This is mine...
Few "minutes" of work, cheap and easy mod.
Cut bumper half inch wider than frame, relocate lights, put on new hooks and finish cut edges with door edge guard. Done. Cost around $40 including door edge, towing hooks and cutting disc and black paint to refresh overall condition and look.

This with new fender flairs...

If anyone is in Indiana and wants to get rid of their stock front bumper, let me know. My '03 is a DD, and I've got a dent in it... and I just need to replace it.
