you're going to need to be more specific.

what are your mechanical capabilities?
what tire size do you want to run?
how much suspension travel (uptravel vs downtravel) are you looking for?
what type of terrain to you frequent? (pavement, sand, rocks, dirt roads, gravel, mud, etc)
what lift height are you thinking of, if you have something in mind?
what is your budget?

IMO a 3-4 inch lift would be slightly excessive for 31 inch tires, and pretty costly to boot

A 3" or 4" lift will look goofy with a 31" tire. You really don't need any lift with 31" tires . If you do want a lift for a bit more clearance get a 1.25" body lift and be done with it.

I have 31s with a 2in spacer in the front. Jeep sits level and tires dont look stuffed. Only thing with 31s is at full turn the tires rub the top spring mount.
