Question lift kits

Okay so over the summer I want to lift my jeep. I don't know what I want to do theres so many options.

option 1- bb with new shocks and a 1"bl I like this option because it's cheap.

option 2- 3" lift

option 3- 4" lift would I need a sys/cv coversion

I want to keep it under 1,000$ because I'm not made of money
I want the jeep to still handle and drive normally. This is the 4" lift i was thinking of Jeep TJ 4" X-series suspension
But if I need a sye for that then I won't do a 4" lift.I'm leaning towards a 2"bb and 1"bl.What do you think would be my best bet.

i think if you get the 4" lift then you should get the sye/cv which means it will put you over your price limit. i say go for the 3" full traction lift or a BB with 1" BL.

or go with the first or second kit listed on this page.

TJ & LJ OME Kits

You have bb on your jeep right? It looks good. What would you do a 2"bb with 1"bl or 3" full traction kit.

Just get A 2"in BB and Some tube fenders disco's and longer shocks. That should clear 33's.

pretty much. i have a 2" coil lift...either one is good...the BB/BL setup is a nice one and will leave you some money in your wallet...but if you think your gonna upgrade soon then you may wanna go straight to the full traction lift. at least if you do upgrade though you haven't wasted a ton of money on the BB/BL since they are cheap.

thats for the 2 door JK...

your springs probably have sagged a little so it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them...if you do a BB you can always replace the springs with some rubi ones.

exactly. it won't be enough lift to mess with your control arms and you shouldn't have to get an sye/cv and if you want 4" you can always add the 1" BL and it already comes with an adjustable track bar...and you can pick the shocks you want so you can get a good ride...and its all for a good price that will leave you with some money. honestly, i will say don't go with cheap shocks. you'll regret it later when your kidneys are rattling around ... OME shocks are known to ride great...they are not the cheapest but i don't think you'll regret it.

G_Spot - Yes, FulTraction is a great company. Thier long-arm kits are some of the best. AS for 33" tires, I've seen it done but dont know how well they perform... I think I'd go for 32's

yeah but i do want to go for a full 4" lift whether it'd be a combo of a 1" body lift and a 3" lift kit, or just a 4" lift kit.

thanx again,
chris

unless you wanna buy a sye/cv then go for a 3" suspension with 1" body lift.

I have a 3" BDS lift kit, they are a great company and have a great warranty. The price is right on the 3" kit and it comes with shocks and new gen disco's that are pretty slick.
You can order direct or thru a distributor..

Premium Lifted Suspension Systems - BDS Suspension

This is mine.

There are lots of good lifts you need to think about what you want to do don't rush it or you will regret it as far as shocks go save and get some goods ones. Look at all the kits people here talk about look at the components they come with and shop for the cheapest price you can find. I like 4x4groupduy.com, they got pretty good deals and there are some vendors here everyone talks about to.

i probably should have mentioned i don't intend to use my jeep to beat the sh*t out of every weekend off roading. does that change anything with regards to my choice of lift companies? i still want a total of a 4" lift though.

thanx again,
chris

I have the RE 4.5 SF and I love it. It looks real nice and handles and performs well on and off road.

When the fella's start talking about shocks and spring rates they are basically talking about it's on road characteristics. So no matter what you are going to use your jeep for and no matter if you are doing a spring spacer lift, body lift, or coil replacement you are going to want a good set of shocks to maintain your factory ride or better.
