Thumbs up lift options

hello
I am new to this forum and new to jeeps as well
I have a healthy desire to do things right.
Just purchased a 2003 wrangler sport
it has no lift on it and I want to know anyones opinion on what the best lifts are!
So come on and let me know

How do you want to use the jeep. Trail only, Street only, mix? How big of a tire do you want? How much is your budget?

OME, does not offer a complete kit that I know of. Just springs and shocks for the TJ. What you find is there stuff mixed with JKS, RE etc to form a kit. Which is fine, but you want to make sure all that mixed stuff works together.

the jks stuff is better than re stuff anyday..

after talking to dirk from dpg.. the jks stuff is more likely to fit if you upgrade your suspension..

for example the front trackbar i got.. if i went ahead and got a re tb.. i would have to replace it if i went to a la setup.. the jks one will work with a la setup so i dont have to change out trackbars in the future..

ome and jks is the way to go.. but re isnt bad either.. i heard good things of their monotube shocks which is why i just ordered a new set..

thanks for the feedback so far KEEP it coming
the jeep will be used for a mix of trail and road
I will not do anything too radical with it the tires will probably go to 32's or 33's Max

I am curious not only what systems are best but why you think they are

like what is the difference between the rubicon express and say a fabtech long arm ?

doing a la lift requires a lot more work than what a sa lift takes..

with a la lift you need a sye where you can get by with a transfer case drop with a sa lift.. exhaust might need modified to fit also..

anything over 4'' would be a good idea to get a la lift..

if your only wanting to run max of 33s.. than steer away from a la lift because it will be too tall for your needs..

for 32-33'' tires.. look into these 3 kits.. it seems that a lot of ppl get one of these kits and you never hear anything bad about them..

3'' Full Traction basic lift

3.5'' RE basic lift

and the OME lift that i posted a pic of..

each lift has upgradeable options which only add to the ability of your suspenion.. like changing control arms to adjustable control arms.. and each kit runs between 650-800 depending on where you get it from and if it comes with shocks or not..

call dirk from dpgoffroad.com he'll hook you up with what you need and not with a bunch of extra parts.. he knows what hes talking about (he carries both the ome lifts and the re lifts)

^^ along the same lines as what he said, if you decide to go with 33's, another option for a nice 3" kit is the BDS kit I'm using, I don't dee much of anything to serious around here, just mud, snow and sand, but the best part about the kit I have is that it has a lifetime breakage warranty, you break it, they replace, period. They call it the "no fine print" warranty, they don't care how you broke it, as long as you are the original owner of the kit... just something to consider.

and you know this HOW??? i seriousy doubt this.

So i guess you didn't read about the guy on another board who just went from the OME to RE and he prefers the RE and even said that the RE rides better. now some people say they like their OME better (and most people haven't ran both). unless you've ran both, you don't know (and it would still be an opinion)

i drove with different suspensions before i bought my OME lift. skyjacker, RE, Rancho, OME.
the OME lift has the best ride in my opinion. very comfortable on the road and also very good off the road.

if you want to do it right install a real suspension lift with new springs and shocks and no BB with spacers. i had a skyjacker BB before and the ride was very bad, now with the OME lift it feels like a complete new car.

when i called to order my parts for my jeep, i talked to dirk.. we talked about how much im gonna end up lifting my jeep.. i originally called wanting RE trackbars.. but if i went to a la setup like i want.. id have to replace all the RE trackbars with something different..

the jks trackbar i ordered however will work with my 3.5'' of lift, and will also be able to stay on when i upgrade to a la setup.. saving me money and all the time of changing out the trackbar again..

also ive read through 3 forums of people saying the bushings in the RE stuff are crap..

need i say more?

then again.. when im talking about putting jks products on a lift.. im not talking about their coils and springs, which are ridiculously priced.. im just talking about their control arms and their trackbars.. which after reading everyones opinions on them.. are some of the best..

(my argument isn't about what products are better.. its what products last longer.. and what products are able to adapt to my ever changing suspension)

I know it sounds strange, but try Meguires Tire shine on your flares. I swear it lasts for months.

I'll put my name in the hat for RE support as well. I did about a year's worth of research before choosing it and have had zero problems. I daily drive it on a regular basis (50+ miles per day) and have had the lift on for right at 3 years now.

On road it rides better than stock and offroad it performs like a dream...

im looking to get the RE la upgrade for my jeep in a year or so =D

im thinking of getting either the 3.5'' kit or might just get the la upgrade itself and run o.m.e. 2.5'' coils and having the acos fill the rest..

but seriously there are a couple of good manufactures to choose from.. same with the bad ones..

RE, jks, o.m.e., and full traction are some of the better lifts for their price.. it really doesn't matter what you go with..

some offroad business's will put together a nice lift kit too.. like dpg and bds and rustys..

I'll be upgrading my RE to a Long Arm in the future, but for right now it's great! I drive 80+ miles a day to work and I cruise at 70mph. The ride is nice, and it's very capable off road.

so I am guessing that RE: LA = long arm and SA = short arm is that right?
I am leaning toward the RE set up
any comments about what will specifically give me the best ride both on and off road

thats correct...

long arm will ride better...but shocks play a big part in ride quality.
