My name is Tanner. I'm 17 and own a 4 Cylinder 99' Wrangler with stock suspension and stock 30" tires. I'm a regular driver, but I love to off-road as much as possible(Mainly mud and trails ). I've got the money now, and I plan to get a 4" suspension lift kit, 15x10 wheels, and 33/1250R - 15/6 108p Open Country M/T Traction Blackwall tires. I have a few questions before I get it though. How will my top speed and millage be affected? Will my center of gravity change drastically? If you can answer these questions or if you have advise for me, please feel free to post them.
i have a '99 4banger and a 2 " lift with 31's and i lost a good deal of power, ended up putting a cold air intake in and that brought me closer to stock. some people might suggest re-gearing to get some power back seeing that you are going with 33's, but that is something i know nothing about.

Top speed and milage are going to take a BIG hit with 33's and no regear. 5th gear will more than likely become useless. If you are going with 33x12.5 tires, get a 15x8 wheel. 15x10's are not needed. Any suspension lift is going affect the COG(center of gravity)... and 4" is going to up it quite a bit along with the taller tires. You sure you want a 4" though? How much wheeling do you plan on doing? Or how much have you done? But there are other things to buy with a 4" lift that could easily add up to another $1000 if your not ready for it.

4cyl with 5speed has 4.10/4.11 gears. And with 33" tires, a set of 4.88's would be best.
your top speed is gonna suffer, it is gonna be around 70, but then again if your top is now 80 idk whats gonna happen
i would suggest getting a 3" susp. lift and 1" BL and MML to avoid having to get drivline things, and as for gears you may have to regear, but thats gonna r un you around a grand, so i f you can live wiht your top speed being 70ish then try to stick i t out for as long as you can
im 17 as well and i know im wicked short on cash and every dollar matters so here is what im getting and suggest for the low end that is still gonna do the job (now if u got all the $$ in thw world, go ahead and get ome or somthing it will be way better than this stuff)
I did my lift with tires for $1500. I did it myself though. I personally hate body lifts so I would stay away from that. If you plan on driving the Jeep every day you will need to regear like AZTJ said sounds right. BTW you don't need to be doing 80 in a lifted Jeep.
2003 Wrangler TJ
All stock for now!
This is a DD as well. After lots of thinking, I'm thinking about getting a 3" susp and 1"bod with the 1" mml. Also I just bought a new cold air intake today, and plan to get a new exhaust after the lift to help me out with power issues. BTW this is a 3 speed automatic, if that matters much.
Well, this saturday i'm getting a Fabtech 4" sus lift, new wheels, and 33" Toyo M/t's put on for $2,500! I also installed a new performance air intake, and ordered a power chip to help turn those tires with my 4 banger. Hows that all sound?
Haha, I got good deals. The intake and power chip cost less than $100. I got em on ebay . Plus my uncle does landscaping for Les Scwab, so He said I work for him and I got a 10% discount. I'm still short a couple hundred, but my dad's gonna lend me what i need.
imo i think the air intake and power chips on a 4banger is just not worth it... you put a skirt on a pig it is still a pig.... performance on the street = 0.... i'd take that chip and intake money and buy bumpers or sliders..... but hey you got $2500 to burn... do it.... to each his own..... sounds like you'll have a nice lookin rig to crawl over those mall speed bumps.... and if you need to you can hit the back yard and toss some topsoil on it...
abviously jeeps arent for speed but i'd say intake and exhaust are a waste.. save another few hundred and buy a turbo/supercharger if you want power which will replace your intake and some of ur exhaust.
how does it feel, power wise? al truth that intake might make noise it will give you anything but 1hp if that..
It will make some noise.. I with my mods.. custom intake, throttle body bored, 2.5" tailpiping and flowmaster.. my jeep has changed from a flat power band across the entire rpm rance to a more peaky power. Its a bit different than stock. Something common for 2.5L guys is go the junk yard.. find a 4.0 wrangler and take off the throttle body and bolt it on yours... Yes i said bolt on... I've seen many people that say it makes a difference.. few say it doesnt so. I my self think it makes some change.... The 4.0 TB whisles a bit..
