i know 4x4 xplor has the lift with zj v8 coils in the front and stock tj coils in the rear.. ive read/posted before about the using coils from a crown victoria in the rear instead of the oem coils from the tj since they arent as stiff as the ones in the back..

does any one have more info on this? jd and i were discussing it and ive had no luck finding the information i need

Yea Moa I can't find it either. hmm wish money grew on the tree out back no need to try and figure this out I just want my 5.5 long arm kit already.

Could I run those with stock springs? I was just wanting a little more flew in the truck until summer.

ok - so I am not going to hurt the stock shock if I kinda over stretch it. I can get all four coils for i think 20 bucks with tax just got to go pull them out of the truck at the pick in pull. I am also looking into a v-8 outta there too, from a chevy. 350 small block should do the trick I got quoted 250 for the thing with everything needed to run it except the tranny. I want a manual back in it.

Yea that should work for springs, but I would invest in a set of shocks if you plan on flexing it or offroading.

Better work with Advance Adapters if you plan on putting the 350 in the Jeep... also drivetrain, becomes the next weak link with a 350 engine install.

actually.. a guy on this forum ran d30/d35 combo, 38s, and a 350.. he never broke anything until he swapped the 38s out for some 35s =p

you can ask him yourself.. it was coyote =p.. now that doesnt mean im recommending doing it, but it seems like people who tend to brake stuff are harsh on their jeep, if you have a light foot you wont have any problems

I've been doing a lot of research on the zj/crown vic coil lift I actually have them setting in the back of my jeep waiting to go in the v8 zj coils up front will net you about 2.5 inches to 3.0 inchs of lift the variations of lift was because of people using them on 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder models the 6 cylinder weighs more so you would probably get 2.5 inches of lift on the 6 cylinder and 3 inches on he 4 cylinder.
I'm not going to install mine until I get shocks and adjustable track bars right now my budget is tight so it might take me a month or to before I get around to putting them on. Here are a few write ups on the lift I would suggest reading through all of it before throwing the coils on just to give you an idea of what to expect. So far I've got $20.00 dollars tied up in all 4 coils.:)

I have been arguing with a buddy of mine all morning wether or not these coils give you that much lift or not and I have a full day of doing nothing so I'm going to throw the v8 zj coils that I have on the front of my rig and see how much lift that I gain and I will post before and after pics. I have 2" spacers in the back so I'm hoping it levels out well see I guess.

I have a shop full of floor jacks and airtools so this didn't take me maybe 1 hour to accomplish but here is what happend I have 2" fat bob spring spacers front and back I removed the front 2" spacers and replaced them with the v8 zj front spring coils on the passenger side of my jeep. Before I did anything I took a rough measurement from the bottum of my fender flare and got a measurement of 34 & 3/4" of an inch of hieght from the ground with the fatbob 2" spacers. I installed the v8 zj front springs using the tj stock spring isolater and the zj spring isolater stacked on top of eachother. I took my measurements again after installing everything and this is what I got. Measurement from the ground with the new springs is 35".

thats good.. i know jeeps normally sit about an inch higher in the rear.. when i got my acos i put 2 of my 1'' pucks in the front of my gfs dad's jeep to level out his stock suspension.. now his front sits about 1/2'' lower.. but hes got heavy tube bumpers on it..

ive changed my suspension around sooo many times that it takes me an hour to do all 4 coils =p.. keep in mind i got disco's for the front however, which makes the job even easier =p

oh bark looks like your gonna need bigger tires =p

i actually have a pic of a jeep running this setup.. his on 32s

Results are in I just finished the drivers side of my jeep putting the v8 zj coils up front and took measurements from all four corners. The front of my jeep is pretty much level it is setting at about 35" to 35" & 1/2 from the ground to the bottum of the flare and the back of my jeep with the 2" fatbob spring spacers still installed is setting at about 36" inchs from the ground from the bottum of the flare.
Overall I think it turned out great I think I have only got $20.00 tied up in the coils. Overall results my vary I think if my jeep was a 4 cylinder I probably would of gotten another inch of front. But my jeep has the heavy 6 cylinder with auto and the v8 zj coils are used from the salvage yard with unknown miles on them so who knows if there sagging or not.
I would tackle the back with the crown vic coils that I have but those require a small amount of cutting to get to fit right. The v8 zj coils require no modification just remove and replace they fit perfect.
Well here are a few pics I took enjoy now I'm off for a test drive and have to do another alighnment myself.
