Light khaki!

Right hello all! First serious post would love your feedback. I have a 2004 tr2 in light khaki. Am torn between black or silver wheels! What's peoples choice? Any picks would be awesome. Many thanks

Do what I did when I got tired of my aluminum wheels, I plastidipped them black. That way I can always go back to aluminum if I wanted to.

Yea had thought bout having the original wheels painted. Must admit was leaning towards black but those wheels look very nice.

This is what most black rims look like.....

..... a spare tire. Especially if it is flat black. Black is very popular but in my opinion it looks like crap.

I find plain black quite dull also but with beadlocks or beadlock style, they look much better?

I like black wheels...But, on a Light Khaki TJ I think aluminum wheels look awesome.

I'm looking for a really low mileage Light Khaki Rubicon with Black Interior. Those suckers are hard to find.

I found one in GA but they want 19k.

What's the spec of the rubicon? Mines 40k with the black interior very clean! Gave £5000 for mine. No one can afford to run them ha.

How much is L5000 in US dollars?

What are these wheels? Looks like a lift and some hefty tyres too!

As far as I can tell it has a 1 inch body lift. Not sure about suspension though. This is how I bought it. It has Bilstein shocks, but I can't find any identifying markings in the springs.

The rims are Pacer 164P LT MOD 15x8's with Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 32x11.5x15 tires.

Personal preference and the color of your Jeep. I think for the khaki, silver rims would look best. Red and black go well together (I might be biased tho... )

I think that the bolder colors (red, yellow, orange, and some blues) look good with black rims. The more muted colors (silver, khaki, rescue or kelly green, the browns) look good with silver or chrome rims.

I tend to agree with you at the moment. Think it's just a case of fining a set over here. Would like a split rim style or beadlock.

I don't think split rims or true bead locks are DOT street legal. But I guess I depends on where you live

Pretty sure DOT is a non-issue for Craig...

I just Painted these.

I liked these, they were just to big with no lift, 18".
The ride at highway speeds on the 15” T/As is much better.

On a light khaki Jeep, I actually prefer aluminum wheels. Khaki is a dull colour, so the aluminum makes it "pop" more. It all comes down to your personal preference in the end. If all else fails, buy some spray-on Plasti dip to paint your rims black and see if you like it better. Take pictures before painting and after, so you can look at the two versions side by side.

The only issue over here is wheels sticking out past the flares. Other than that you could put trolley wheels on! Must admit I do fancy silver more now. In my head I'm picturing a 5 spoked dished split. If anyone has a pic of these would be great

How about a bit of both (silver AND black)?
There's plenty out there.
I've got Dick Cepek DC-2's.
They are an affordable alloy wheel with plenty of backspacing (3.65") so they will stick out almost 1.85" further than stock rims (what was that you said about sticking out past the flares?) But you can always get wider flares too

Being alloys they get a bit chewed up on the rocks but I hit mine with some touch up paint occasionally.

Here's a couple of Jeep pics (not mine) I found on the interwebz - A TJ and an LJ - I think they are khaki

I have an '05 Rubicon and went with polished MT Classic Locks. I actually like the brass bolts on the bead collar.

With a light khaki, I'd stay away from black! Just my opinion, though!
