Sadly, I hear that it happens to the best of 'em.

Hopefully not to OUR Jeep guys though!

Bimby, I know I am jumping in here very late, and I have probably given this thread too much thought but I think I understand what happened with the other driver... taking a different perspective on your encounter, namely his point of view ( I will take the liberty of playing devils advocate)

He is out with his friends showing off his jeep and trying to have a good time, when he gets himself stuck. He is inexperienced in off-roading, and plenty of other people have passed him by. Now you come along to help and admirably show your son that it is OK to help other people. Your thought was to also teach this driver a trick when driving on sand. So you tell him to air down and pull himself out...

" Hey, it looks like this guy riding with his family is gonna give us a hand"
" What? let the air out of my tires? whats that gonna do?"
" OK if you say that will work, here goes"
" OH $hit, now I'm buried up to my eyeballs, no air in the tires and sitting in a quagmire"
" WHAT THE F**K he has a tow strap, he made me let the air out of my tires..bury the jeep and make me look like a F**kING IDIOT in front of my friends when he could have just pulled me out....he did that just so he could show off his rig... that S O B , if his family wasn't with him I'd punch his lights out"

He was so pissed at you he would never say thanks. Now if you had just pulled him out to begin with.. you probably would have gotten a hand shake and three big kisses.

Maybe food for thought, a different lesson learned. Chances are I would have done the same thing you did, but I'll take a que from your experience and approach things differently. S

PS. Again, PLEASE, this is not a reproach, maybe just some insight as to what happened.

Hahahaha....you're probably right and I could totally picture somebody reacting like that. Hopefully they just realize that airing down on sand is the right thing to do and he does it next time, rather than thinking this "fellow Jeeper" was just trying to give him 4 flat tires. lol

Having never driven in the sand I did learn ONE thing from this thread...

If you get your rubi stuck on the beach, get your fat ass out of it and walk down and call a tow truck because you'll never live it down

No.. I'm just kidding.. I really never have driven in sand.
If I ever have to now I know to air down.

Oh Bimby, you are going to have to scour the beach now till you see this guy again.... See if he got the memo to air down on sand....

Thanks for helping out a Jeeper, especially when no one else would. Sorry for the lack of thanks you got, and the whole beefaloe scolding! Hopefully everyone learned something here, and that makes this whole thing worth while...

1. Help when ever you can

2. Be kind in your assessment of others

3. Air down on sand

4. When you see someone doing something wrong, explain to them why it is causing a problem, so that they will know better next time.

5. Sharing on WF is a learning process for all involved

Just want to thank all of you experts who were not there that day. And for giving me his reason for not stopping....Dude was buried when I came across him and I know I did the right thing. After reading all of the responses I came up with a new thought process. 1. dont post jack on here because of all the bantering. { and trust me many of you don't seem to smart} and 2. next time I come across someone who is stuck, and it may be you , I will just continue around you and leave you there..

Hey!
You cant pack up your toys and go home yet, we're still waiting for the dead sexy 44 year old pictures.

Doggone it, that's not fair!

I thought this thread turned around to some good humored banter and that all was well.
How did it go from that to you being angry?

If my post about airing down came across the wrong way, I really was playing in the first part, and serious in the second about not knowing that you're supposed to air down in sand. I was trying to say that I had learned something.

So if I'm the one that made you mad, please accept my apologies, I was only playing a little.

Don't get MAD at us, we are on your side. You did the right thing, you know it, we know it. Everything else on here is for the sake of amusement, not criticism.

Kate, would you take a 57 year old?

I have similar to that one, but mine starts at "asshole" and goes to "The Whole Ass". It pegs out everytime I get near it. I'm really getting bad in my old age
