I may be selling an LJ hardtop and wanted to know what is a reasonable price to ask? Also is it better to hold off selling it till fall/winter when demand is greater?
Shoot ok, I am going to need to find someplace to store this thing until fall. In the mean time I will look into painting it to increase the value since it does have some scratches.
I paid $1500 for my hardtop last fall. It took four years of looking for one to find it. Most that I found for sale in the Northeast were around $2000 and sold quickly. LJ hard tops are hard to find and go for big money in my experience.

$1800 easy in decent shape. Came in any color you wanted as long as it was black.
Before you sell this, you may want to consider hanging on to it. Unless this is strictly a 3 season vehicle, you may want to at least go through one winter before you decide. The soft top works fine as long as you don't need to keep warm. Otherwise you are miserable.
They aren't making any more of these and volumes of the TJ Unlimited were too small to interest anyone to crank-up up an aftermarket. Only ones coming on sale are from Salvage vehicles or people who bought one in southern climes or only use the LJ April to Late October.
I actually have two hardtops right now. Craigslist addict:thumb:
One I am going to paint dark khaki to go with my khaki metallic rubicon, the other I am going to leave black and sell. I could probably store both of them in case something were to happen to one, but I was planning on using the money from the black one to buy more upgrades for my Jeep.
I am interested in the black hard top. I am seeing prices around 1200 these days but all for grey and tan....not sure if that was a thing when they were building it. I am specifically looking for black. I am located closer to Philly but willing to travel.
Hey Red,
I sold one of the two hardtops this weekend, but if you do find a tan one in the next few months I would be happy to trade my black one for it. I was planning on painting my current top dark khaki this summer, but this would save me the time and money.
