JK 4 door times a gazillion

Actually, if it were me anyway... if your going long might as well go REALLY long with four doors. They are both nice though, tough decision.

After a miserable weekend installing a friend's two-piece Poison Spyder rocker guards onto her JK, I'll change my formerly positive opinion on the JK and tell you to get an LJ. The KJ has poor visibility out of the back, drives more like a van, has less power/torque, and is not at all easy to install products onto like the rocker guards I just spent 1.5 very tough days installing... vs. the 3 hours I spent installing rocker guards onto my TJ. The KJ's tub has multiple layers making it impossible to simply drill a hole through it and insert a nut onto the backside to hold anything on. I had to use threaded inserts on her JK which were a GIANT ROYAL PITA when it came to bolting everything up.

The KJ is a nice Jeep but after having driven it over the weekend and crawled all over it, I'd not willingly trade my TJ in for one, not even straight across.

My 2 cents: I was all fired up and ready to buy a new 4 door jeep until I drove it. The room it has is nice and the interior is really comfortable compared to an older Jeep. But, I drove an '04 Rubicon stick with no modifications the same day I drove a brand new '07 stick and it moved like it was a 4 banger with 160,000 miles on it. The 3.8 liter V-6 has no low end torque. So it depends on what you want it for I guess, Nice inside, but the motor has no ass to it.

yes that motor does suck even though it has more horse power you have to get the rpm's up a little higher for the torq range
if you are going to wheel it in rocks then get an automatic in the jk or tj

I see lots of the new 4 doors Jeeps in my area and the next time I see one with the top and doors off will be the first time. To me the full doors look silly left on with the top down.

I've thought about this for a while, I have a computer business, carry servers, routers, switches, cable boxes, ladders, tools, etc. I've got an XJ and 2 TJ's plus a ZJ. If you carry stuff and need it secure a 4 door hard top is really the only option. I borrowed a LJ for a week from a friend while he was on vacation, worked out of it and had problems, he did have one of those racks that attaches in the back and over the windshield so carrying stuff was not too big an issue, I just could not carry what I was used to carrying.
As far as the TJ's for working, generally only for service calls or to pick up equipment to bring back to the shop, thats pretty much it. I did use the TJ to carry a knocked down 6 ft tall communications rack, that was interesting driving with all that steel up there.

I like my LJ - but that aside, you may want to consider the lifetime powertrain warranty on the JK as opposed to whatever is left of the 36K on the LJ. Unless you plan to mod the JK heavily which could give you warranty issues anyway depending on the dealer and what might break.

Also there should be a considerable difference in price if that's a concern.

blah blah blah....LJ!
