Stretched TJ is my vote. I like the 10" more wheelbase that a LJ gives, but i'm just not a fan of that 15" longer body (breakover angle would hang up on the trails i like to run). I stretched my TJ to 104, and LOVE it. Front tires hang in front of the front bumper, and the rear tires hang behind the back bumper I guess the 42's help with that though
I went LJ after owning a TJ. Cant take all my little girls' stuff in my old TJ. Over all i believe the LJ is 18 inches longer but the wheel base is only 10 inches longer. Also when lifting them up it is easier to go higher with the longer rear drive line, you have less of an angle to worry about, without pointing your pinion up past 15 degrees and wrecking your rear end.
If you think you might want an LJ, then you should probably go with the LJ. Otherwise you will probably always wonder if you should have gone with the LJ and have regrets.
Personally I never even considered an LJ because I don't like the way they look and don't need the extra space. I have seen some decent looking LJ's that were lifted but I still thought every one of them would look better if it was a TJ. That is just my personal opinion. If I bought one it would be only because I found a great deal and intended to flip it immediately.
Its sounds like you have no issue with the looks and might need/want the space so you should go with the LJ.
It's amazing what a difference 10" makes in the ride as well as the room. As for looks, LJs really need to be lifted (and the hardtop looks "puffy"), but TJs look too short, especially when they're lifted.
