LMS (Learn me some): difference between Quadratop and Besttop Sailcloth top.

I need to replace my top (10 years old, slight tear in front behind header bar and rear zipper coming apart).

There is an obvious savings with the Qudratop, but the OEM equivilant Sailcloth Besttop has proved to be very duable.

This is a softtop only jeep whose top is up and down all the time, 3 seasons of the year.

TIA

IDK about the Quadratop but I will say that my Sailcloth Replace-A-Top (R-A-T) is beau coup better than the OEM top I replaced earlier this year.
The zippers work easily and folding the top up/down is less of a struggle. Best of all, the Sailcloth R-A-T is so much quieter than the OEM top. I can have a reasonable conversation without shouting and actual listen to my stereo for a change. YMMV, and invariably will...

Mine isnt leaking (original top) but I plan on replacing it next spring anyway. I've looked at both of the tops you have mentioned. I am leaning toward the BesTop simple because of the quieter road manners. The QuadraTop looks really good too. Its my daily driver so I'm leaning toward the BesTop.

I had to replace my oem top due to vandals. I went with the bestop sailcloth. It is leaps and bounds better than oem. It's on its fifth year now, and still looks relatively new. Other than some slight fading and the passenger side rear widow is a little worn. I can see this top lasting at least another five years. Granted I only use the top in the winter. I live in Pennsylvania and I only just put the top back in today. When April rolls around I will be putting my bikini back on

I'm not sure about the Quadratop, but every piece on a Bestop set up is replaceable, so you'll be able to extend the life of your soft top without replacing the whole thing again.

Does anyone sell just the bestop supertop without the hardware? Everywhere I see its sold with all the hardware, and I already have that. Dont see a need to replace it all. Mine is not leaking but has alot of dust on it. Would like to change it out with one with tinted windows next winter.

base871: search the interwebs for your best deals for the Bestop REPLACE-A-TOP, AKA: R-A-T. This is the top (in sailcloth) I bought to replace my worn OEM soft top. R-A-T is just the fabric, the frame is NOT included; it is, most simply, a replacement (fabric & windows) top using your OEM hardware. IIRC, the "Supertop" is available as a R-A-T option.

About how much was your R-A-T? I'm looking for a new one, my 99's top is still hanging in there, but it needs to be replaced. All the hardware is good, so I'm lucky there...

Im not sure about the quadratop, but from what I've gathered, its about like the supertop on my old yj. My TJ has the oem mopar sunrider(sailcloth black diamond) off a newer Rubicon. The difference between a normal top and sailcloth is night and day. No flapping or anything else. Actually the only thing I really noticed between going from a hard top to this, is I can hear cars beside me a little louder. Its almost just as quiet as the hardtop

I replaced the top that was on my 1998 TJ with a Quadratop 18 months ago. We had a terribly wet summer here in Florida and the top was on all the time. No problems and a big money saver. Easy to install. Only problem was the zipper pulls that came apart quickly. Quadratec offered to replace them but never did. I replaced them with wire. Easy solution. I would buy this top again.

Pat, I got a GREAT deal on my R-A-T back in April from the Bestop Factory Outlet: ~$430.00 after a rebate. IDK if you will find a deal that good now, except on Craigslist. Your best bet is to do as I did, I shopped on-line for months, and pulled the trigger quick when I saw that deal.

Sorry for the long wait, thanks brotha!! I definitely will be looking and shopping around. I think we all have lists of things to get with TJs!
