No, a stock Dana 35c axle is not strong enough for a locker. What normally breaks after installing a locker into a D35 is an axle shaft since a locker can double the stress seen by either of the two axle shafts.

You could however install a locker into your front axle without much worry until your tire size gets up to about the 35" size. You won't feel a front locker's presence when you're in 2wd on the street, you'd only hear it ratchet a bit as you made turns.

Jerry, what are your thoughts on the "Limited Slip on the D35". I think you explain it best and I think people often think they are one in the same as a locker.

IMo the 35 is a boat anchor and $0 should ever be invested into one. get a better axle.
