Lockers on X?

I have an '03 X model 31 inch tires and I'm looking for some automatic lockers. My questions are: Can my axles take it? I only have 31's, my gearing is 3.07 and what brand would you recommend? I need something good for mudding on the weekends, really nothing that hardcore but I want better performance. Front, back or both?

You have a dana 35 rear. so unless you do a major upgrade to it, don't lock it. I would go with a ARB in the front dana 30 unless you want to upgrade the rear dana 35.

Understand that I am not that smart or knowledgeable about gears lockers etc.

I can speak from my experience that with 31 BFGs on my '04 sport I6 5spd Dana 44 and 3.73s I have never driven into anything that I could not get back out of. However I will pick the easiest best line I can find and don't go crazy in the muddy soupy stuff. I can't do that with my DD. But I have found that going slower is usually better. If you want to start replacing parts/ breaking things than the only limit is your wallet.

Not trying to be rude, but IMO you shouldn't NEED lockers until you have 4.11 or bigger gears. Good Luck!

They would probably break your current axles IMO and to regear and have it be worth while IMO, you would probably be ahead to change axles when you start comparing costs. I Would assume regear would be for bigger tires and your axles not ready for that. IMO--and realize I could be all wrong....but I think when you start looking at the price of regear and lockers for your axles and knowing that they couldn't handle much more than 33s and that would be iffy, how much to change to axles already geared and locked (like Dana 44s front and rear)--that wouldn't break long term IMO locking yours is asking for trouble.

I got lost in this thread, but lots of people run lockers in the the stock D30/D35. The problem is that certain offroad situations can cause the axle to break if locked....you could run for years without problem, then bang, ya hit that situation that twists an axle shaft in half. So then you are faced with "how do I get this jeep home" and then "do I fix it?" or "do I upgrade?"
