Look at what happened at class

So I was up at the college at my diesel class, and on lunch break a bunch of boys from autobody came up and look what they did to my jeep doors! Took them off my jeep and scooted them on the concrete!

I didn't do anything to them, they just came up and did it. Yeah I was on lunch break sitting in the jeep and they came up and opened the doors and took them off. I was pissed but there was a bunch of them and they had me like blocked in the seat of my jeep. I carry a big 18" adjustable wrench but I was trying to keep calm because I didn't want to do something right there and get kicked out or anything. But there was a security camera right there at the corner of building so I know it seen it. I already talked to the dean and explained it and then they went and talked to the boys that did it and jumped all over them. But told me that's all they can do and if I wanted the doors repainted or anything I'd have to file a accident report with the police. It's ridiculous.

I'd file the report before that footage is gone. I would have used that wrench too. That's some bs. That dean should make them fix them. To bad you didn't have some pepper spray.

Edit. Don't know why I thought they were from a body shop deleted that part.

They were from the autobody class a couple buildings over from me. I went to highschool with 3 of them and we were all buddies then I don't know what the hell happened. A joke is one thing but that only goes so far. But I don't trust them to paint it because they could do anything to it.

I don't think you could ever get the color of the new paint to match the old paint exactly. They should be responsible for a whole new paint job. Yes it should be handled by the authority's. if there is another incident later with one or more of the brats they already have a history of making trouble. Will be much better for you. Plus tey should be suspended from school. Weak sister on the Dean.

Exactly the paint would never match if just the doors were painted. That was a perfect flawless paint job still factory from when it rolled off the line in 97. I'd just about dip them black to match the grill but I'm seeing what becomes if this first. I'm supposed to meet back with the dean sometime she has some "insight on the situation"

Dude, you definitely have to file a report and tell the dean the school,is going to have to repaint the vehicle for failing to provide for your security. Don't take no for an answer.

I agree. If this just happened, call the cops. If they had you 'blocked" in your seat, they may have committed a felony depending on what they did to block you.

If you really want to be nasty, some gas in the old diesel tanks works wonders sometimes but that may just escalate things.

You can file a complaint against the Dean or that school....parking lot is their property and they are responsible for anything happening in there....what happened is physical assault to you and your personal property. send a letter from lawyer to that school/Dean...
And then just watch what happens...

Any good body shop can match the paint perfectly if they were any good. Most just pour it out of the can and spray but a good painter can tint it to match but it may take many tries and become costly. Or they can blend it into the adjacent panels.

Where do you guys get these ideas. Private property owners, including schools, are not responsible for the criminal acts of third parties

This is exactly what you should do.
Just reading that seriously pisses me off.

No he can't. Parking lots are "park at your own risk." Property owners are not responsible for this guy's doors.

Don't mean to sound insensitive here but did I miss something? You're on a college campus at a class... You're an adult right? These so-called boys are also adults right? And you ask what to do on a forum instead of calling the police?

As for these adults on this forum telling you to get revenge.... IGNORE THEM!

CALL THE POLICE FILE A REPORT!!!! Provide in writing to the dean you want a copy of the security footage before it gets erased! Also contact campus security ASAP! Then get a notebook and write down everything that happened who took the doors off, who prevented you from getting out of the vehicle, anybody else that might've seen it if you recognize them put their names down also... What time was this? Also ask for video footage of the classes or the hallways that these adults would've had to travel through to get to your jeep. What classes were they suppose to be in? Take pictures of your jeep go back and park your vehicle where was if you've moved it and take additional pictures of the surrounding area. Start THINKING!

They are responsible for their parking lots. Yes Sir....
These are not ideas, these are rights that are given to every citizen (ofcourse ppl use them for wrong things though)...
Definitely, call the police, get the video footage, and all that things that are "Should've done".....

Well I am not Law Expert in any ways, but these are things any person would think of...

They are responsible for the parking lot but not for anyone elses property in it. This isnt high school where the school is considered your legal guardian once you get dropped off by your parents. Everyone is an adult and every adult matter is taken through the police/courts not the school.

I agree with everyone saying the school or the dean is not responsible for the damage. They are responsible for punishing there students for committing crimes on school property. Like if your kid punches a kid in the face they get suspended. I would think they could mediate as well. Like hey pay for the damage you caused or your done. If they stole his books I would think they would be called to the office and instructed to return them. Not just tell him call the cops. They have some power but are not responsible no more than a bank if you get shot in a robbery. Hopefully Dean put something together for him. Good luck.

No that's why almost every parking lot has signs reading "Not responsible for property left in vehicle" don't get me wrong it still screwed up what those guys did and I probably wouldn't have had as good of a temper about it but it still doesn't change the fact that the school is in responsible for property from a financial standpoint although the a holes should be expelled

I already filed an incident report with the school and filled out when and where it was and what all happened and who was involved. I put a good friend of mine who was in his truck nearby as a witness. Dean wants to talk to me again but I don't have class again until Monday. I wanna see what the dean says before I file police report or anything. To beat it all one of the guys that did it was an old highschool buddy. There were two other guys I went to highschool with with him, they didn't do anything to the jeep so I put them as witnesses but of course they're taking his side and trying to say I scratched the doors all to hell like that while "off-roading". When I wheel in my jeep I don't beat on it like that I stay in trails where I won't hit nothing like that. Guess it goes to show how good your friends from highschool really are. Hoping things go well and the dean doesn't take their side on it and turn it back on me.
