I think keeping the guard on there keeps it clean looking. I thought they had to come off. It has me wondering if it can just be trimmed to accommodate the winch.

I did have to trim it a little when I put on the bumper. I may try and trim it a little more when I get the winch.

This certainly has become overly complicated...

It started out 2 weeks ago with wanting to take the kids out jeepin, to find out there are only a few places out here to go. Then it turned into planning a trip to the Badlands off road park (on the other end of the state). Then someone said we'd need a winch, so we ordered a winch and planned for this Friday (now tomorrow). Then we get the winch and find out we can't put it on our bumper without an adapter.

I finally just convinced the boss on a JCR bumper to find they are not even painted, and up to a 3 week lead time plus shipping time...

It sure is hard to get your jeep dirty out here...

JCR has been great at answering all my questions btw, I'm not frustrated with them. Just the situation that started as a simple thing and turned into an ordeal. I could go for some good Joshua Tree right now.

The grill guard and winch plate are one piece you just pop it on the factory bumper. I have a 2.5l so it was one of the lightest options. The guy I bought it from thought the bumper and guard were one part and he had bent the bumper part. So he bought aftermarket instead.

Check out Expedition One too. A little spendy, similar look to ARB but made in the USA. And looks like the give 10% off to Military and EMS workers. Mine was on the Jeep when I got it and I haven't fit a winch yet, but i like the look.
